Pick up a small aperitif and step aboard a river cruise (season permitting) before catching a matinee at the Roses Theatre. If historic splendour is on the agenda, Tewkesbury is home to a 12th-century abbey, adorned with one of the highest Norman towers in the country, and the largest medieval re-enactment festival in Europe in July. Just a short drive to the other side of town you will find Croft Farm, where you can spend the days on the lake, sailing, swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. There is even a selection of peddalows for the younger ones. The café at Croft farm is dog friendly too, so no need to leave the pooch at home. Fantastic stay at Avon Loch Cottage. Beautiful setting overlooking the loch and fascinating watching the comings and goings of boats. Chris and Brooke were so friendly and helpful at the Loch. Total gentlemen.Great new kitchen which had everything you needed, microwave, 2 ovens, fridge and freezer. Bedroom had plenty of room, nice furniture, comfy bed and black out blinds, much appreciated.Bathroom was well equipped with a good walk-in shower and plenty of storage space, perhaps a smidgen small but how much time do you spend in a bathroom? Living room was nicely done with an aging sofa which was comfortable, if not a little low, and a lovely dining room table.Situated close to town and had some lovely walks, boat trips and so much to see and do, we only left Tewkesbury 2 days out of necessity for the Wedding we were down to attend. Tewkesbury Abbey worth a visit, there is a market and craft fair on Weds, we missed both but they are separate things in different places.It is a holiday place where you can be as busy or quiet as you decide. Well worth a visit and stay at Loch Avon Cottage.
