About this property

Vine Cottage sits quietly in the pretty village of Alderton, offering a relaxed countryside retreat for families or friends keen to slow the pace and enjoy Gloucestershire at its best. Full of character and warmth, this pet-friendly home feels like a traditional, comfortable base where days are shaped by fresh air, good food and unhurried evenings. Inside, the sitting room is an inviting place to gather, with a woodburning stove taking centre stage after long walks through lanes and fields. It’s the sort of space made for putting your feet up, sharing stories from the day and planning tomorrow’s adventures. The kitchen and dining area is well set up for everyday living, whether you’re preparing hearty breakfasts before heading out or lingering over supper with a glass of something warming.

Everything is laid out with practicality in mind, making it easy to settle in from the moment you arrive. Upstairs, three comfortable bedrooms offer flexible sleeping arrangements, ideal for mixed groups or families travelling together. A family bathroom serves the first floor, while a ground-floor shower room adds welcome convenience, especially after muddy walks with the dog or days spent exploring nearby towns and villages. Outside, the enclosed rear garden provides a peaceful spot to enjoy the fresh country air. It’s perfect for relaxed outdoor meals, lazy afternoons with a book, or simply letting four-legged companions roam safely while you unwind.

Off-road parking adds to the ease of staying here, keeping everything straightforward and stress-free. A gentle stroll from the front door brings you to the village shop and local pub, making it easy to pick up essentials or enjoy a drink without needing the car. Beyond Alderton, the wider Cotswolds opens up beautifully, with honey-stone villages, rolling hills and scenic footpaths easily reached by car. Tewkesbury’s historic abbey, the views from Broadway Tower and the riverside charm of Evesham all make rewarding days out. Vine Cottage offers a welcoming, relaxed base for discovering the timeless appeal of Gloucestershire and the surrounding countryside.

The pretty village of Alderton lies on the border of the Cotswolds and the Vale of Evesham and was mentioned in the Doomsday book. It has a 16th century thatched village pub offering home cooked meals and real ales, and a village store and Post Office stocking locally sourced produce. Close by is the ancient Saxon town of Winchcombe with inns, restaurants, tea rooms and individual shops, many full of character. Once the home of Queen Katherine Parr, Sudeley Castle lies in the beautiful Cotswold Hills on the edge of Winchcombe and boasts award-winning gardens and medieval ruins, and it plays host to numerous events throughout the year. The quintessential English village of Broadway is just a short drive away and offers individual shops and boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and hotels, including the world-renowned Lygon Arms, popular for centuries and now offering spa facilities. Alderton is centrally situated for exploring tourist attractions such as the spa town of Cheltenham, famous for the Gold Cup horse racing and Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare. Also within short drives are Warwick Castle and the Cotswold market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh and Bourton-on-the-Water. The surrounding area offers agricultural shows, arts festivals, village fetes as well as lovely walks, cycle trails and National Trust properties. A great base for a memorable holiday at any time of year.
