Beautiful Sea Front Cottage in the Ocean City is a well-equipped cottage in Plymouth, Devon. Set along the waterfront of Stonehouse and offering striking views across Plymouth Sound, a toasty open fire and allows pets makes it well-suited to families or friends looking to enjoy both coast and countryside. Pull up and park with ease before stepping out to take in the sea air, where the setting immediately draws your eye across the water towards Drakes Island. From the outside, the cottage sits in a position that feels closely tied to Plymouth’s maritime story, and as you approach the entrance, the gentle sound of the shoreline sets the tone for your stay. Step inside and walk across the flooring into a bright open-plan living space, where natural light filters in and leads your gaze straight out towards the water. Settle into the sitting area and light the open fire as the evening draws in, creating a relaxing place to gather, while the TV and music player offer easy entertainment after a day of exploring. From here, move towards the balcony and step outside, where the south-facing aspect opens up sweeping views across the Sound, inviting you to linger with a morning coffee or watch the light shift at sunset. Wander through to the kitchen and dining area, where you can prepare meals at your own pace, using the oven and hob alongside a range of helpful appliances. Chop, stir, and serve as the room fills with the scent of fresh ingredients, before sitting down together to enjoy a laid-back meal, perhaps planning the next day’s route along the seafront. With a washing machine on hand, longer stays are easily catered for, allowing you to settle into a steady rhythm. As the day winds down, head upstairs to the bedrooms, each designed for rest and simple comfort. Draw back the curtains to let in the sea air drifting through the windows, then sink into bed where soft linens and calming tones create a gentle end to the day. One of the bedrooms benefits from a balcony, offering a quiet spot to take in the view as the day begins. The bathroom provides the option of a soak or a refreshing rinse, while the additional shower room allows everyone to move through their morning routine with ease. Step back outside to the garden and patio, where you can sit with a drink or make use of the barbecue on warmer days, with the surrounding setting continuing to echo the movement of the sea nearby. From here, the shoreline is reached with a short, easy walk, making it simple to spend time beside the water whenever the mood takes you. A short stroll brings you to local shops and a welcoming pub, ideal for picking up essentials or enjoying a laid-back meal without travelling far. Venture into Plymouth to explore the historic Barbican, where narrow streets, independent shops, and harbourside views create a lively atmosphere, visit the National Marine Aquarium to discover a wide range of sea life and interactive exhibits, or spend time at Plymouth Hoe, taking in sweeping coastal views and historic landmarks. Head towards Tavistock for a visit to the pannier market filled with local produce and crafts, enjoy riverside walks along the Tavy, and explore nearby heritage sites that reflect the town’s rich past. Dartmoor National Park offers a contrasting landscape of open moorland, with walking routes that wind past rocky tors, opportunities to spot wildlife across wide horizons, and quiet picnic spots surrounded by nature. With coast, countryside, and vibrant towns all within easy reach, Beautiful Sea Front Cottage in the Ocean City provides a well-placed base for making the most of your time in Devon.
