Please note: There are 4 steps in the garden.. A truly delightful, hidden charismatic cottage nestled in the historic Barbican and yards from Plymouth’s marina. This romantic retreat is within easy walking distance of bars, bistros, galleries, boutiques and coastal walks to Plymouth Hoe. Set over three floors, you enter into a spacious private courtyard, perfect for dining al fresco. Through the stable door, the well-equipped kitchen is full of character and enjoys views over the garden. There is also a compact shower room on the ground floor. On the first floor, there is a bijou living room with beams and wooden flooring. The characterful bedroom is located on the second floor and has plenty of storage.
There are many places to visit nearby, including Plymouth’s ancient port, the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth Hoe, The Mayflower Steps from where the Pilgrim Fathers left for America in 1620, and many shops, pubs and restaurants. Boat trips can be taken locally to the historic Royal William Yard and tours of The Dockyard and Warships are available too.

Excellent location in the Barbican and very close to the front for bars and restaurants. Amazing that it had its own parking space. However, the house was not clean. The bathroom was mouldy. Skirting and stairs were very dusty. Outdoor seating cushions were too stained to sit on and there was a dangerous drooping loose wire that ran along the edge of the top step into the sitting room. The oven grill pan has not been cleaned from the previous occupant. Kitchen equipment was very limited.

Joe was very helpful when I needed, and the overall experience was lovely! I had a cosy stay for one, could walk to most places around the Barbican, yet it is very quiet being in a little courtyard. Have been twice and would come again. Bathroom is really small, so watch your head if you're tall, and the heater is very close to your legs. The cottage is on 3 floors with kitchen and bathroom on the bottom floor, living room with TV on second and bedroom on third. Perfectly comfortable, warm, simple but nice decor, and lovely flowers outside.
