Maristow Barton is highly praised for its peaceful location, spaciousness, and well-equipped facilities, making it ideal for large gatherings. Guests enjoyed the beautiful setting, comfortable beds, and ample amenities such as a games room and ice machine. The property's suitability for family and group holidays is frequently commended, with special mentions of its proximity to attractions and natural beauty.
Most guests found the property to be very clean, with only one mention of an 'underlying level of dirt in the kitchen'. This seems to be an isolated comment rather than a common concern among reviewers.
The location is consistently described as beautiful and peaceful, ideal for walks and close to attractions. The rural tranquility and proximity to the coast and Plymouth were appreciated, although the narrow lanes may not suit everyone.
Guests found the beds comfortable and the living spaces ample. There were some comments about the top floor bedrooms being warm and one mention of hard mattresses, but overall, the comfort level was rated highly.
The property is well-equipped with a games room, ice machine, and water cooler. However, there were some minor issues with the games room equipment and a desire for clearer instructions for appliances. The facilities were generally well-received.
While guests mentioned welcome packs and the provision of useful items, there were not enough specific references to gifts or extra thoughtful touches to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such amenities, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.
This huge detached Georgian house is situated close to the River Tavy on a 6,000 acre estate 1½ miles from Milton Combe. With contemporary style and lots of comfort, this house offers excellent accommodation for families or groups of friends. From the big hall, head into the light and elegant sitting room with charming paintings, a cosy open fire and a big table for sociable mealtimes when you can pick your bottles out of the wine fridge. The TV room is decorated in an atmospheric deep red, a great place to enjoy a movie after dinner. The eight bedrooms ramble over two floors, big and bright on the first floor and smaller and more intimate on the top floor, in true Downton style. Beside the house you can enjoy barbecues in the courtyard, whilst the children play on the lawn at the back. There is a games room for playing table tennis. A jetty to launch your own small boat on to the river, as well as sandy beaches to play on. Cyclists will be delighted by the countryside and the Plym Valley cycle track, and space is provided for you to store your bikes in the barns. You can head to the village pub for a pint, or further afield to Tavistock town or the city of Plymouth with its restaurants, shops and theatre. For history buffs, Buckland Abbey is close to the house, and there is a choice of other National Trust houses and gardens and fishing villages within 15 miles. Maristow Barton is a very special destination, stylish yet relaxed and in a beautiful area.

The facilities and grounds are all of a very high standard Unfortunately last year and this year almost all the members of our party got quite severe stomach upsets Some vomiting some diarrhoea and some with both!! It seems like quite a coincidence to happen twice We are all a little confused and concerned as some of our party have compromised immunity We couldnât find why or how this happened the first time last year and even more with our stay this year Some are still recovering from the effects Shame as we probably wonât go back next year which is unfortunate as it suits our needs as we usually do at least one big family holiday a year sometimes two !! Never with any sickness
