These properties are set in a small cluster of houses along a no-through road, just over 1 mile from the heart of Frome, a bustling market town with weekly markets and an ever-growing popular monthly market which takes over the town centre. There are cobbled, pedestrianised streets with rivulets running down, and an array of cafés, individual shops, leisure and entertainment. Herons’ Weir (ref EXY) and adjoining Dippers’ Folly (ref EXZ) have been converted from an old industrial workshop building and have been fitted out to a high standard with oak doors and furniture, and marble floors with underfloor heating on the ground floor. Each bedroom has its own bathroom or shower room, some of which are en-suite. The building sits next to the River Mells facing Jeffries Mill sluice and weir. Both cottages have riverside sitting areas from which to relax with a drink and enjoy the wildlife and ever changing river setting - there are always plenty of birds and you may be lucky enough to see the heron, dippers, kingfisher, fish jumping and otters. There are many picturesque villages within the region, offering great country and riverside walks, with a welcoming pub at the end. The area makes an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding attractions, including Stonehenge, Longleat House, Safari Park and Gardens, Wells Cathedral and Bishops Palace, the spiritual town of Glastonbury with its abbey and tor, the amazing Cheddar Gorge, the designer outlet village at Street, a number of National Trust properties and the Roman city of Bath, with its Georgian buildings, sweeping crescents, spa baths and lively culture. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Very clean and well equipped. Weather could have been better which would have enabled us to sit out and enjoy the river views. However the views can be enjoyed from all bedrooms and downstairs sitting room.

What a lovely property in a stunning location, only 1.4 miles from the town. Everything, furniture, fittings etc looked new and were good quality. We visited Haynes Motor Museum in Yeovil, Bath, Lacock and the abbey, the village is charming, also Bradford on Avon. Frome itself is appealing and we ate well at the quirky Archangel Pub, also at Chez Dominique in Bath.

We loved our time at Heron's Weir. The property is much bigger than the photos imply and the ever-changing river view is a constant source of enjoyment. The kitchen is supplied with probably the best selection of equipment we have ever had in a holiday home and nothing is too much trouble for Rachel. Lots to see and do within a relatively short drive: Lacock Abbey and village, Stourhead and Bath are all within approx half an hour's drive. Frome itself is full of interesting, eclectic and independent shops. Or just stay in with a log fire, a good book and a view of the river.Would we return - a wholehearted yes!
