Herons Weir is consistently praised for its beautiful, tranquil setting and wildlife, with a clean, well-equipped, and comfortable cottage. The host, Rachel, is commended for her helpfulness. The property's location offers a peaceful retreat with attractions within easy reach, although a car is recommended for convenience.
Reviewers unanimously mention the superb cleanliness of the cottage, describing it as spotless and well-maintained, indicating a very high standard of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and peacefulness, with wildlife and a picturesque view. Some guests note the necessity of a car due to narrow roads and the distance to facilities, but this is generally seen as a positive attribute.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with comfy beds and a homely feeling. The relaxing sound of water and the tranquil environment contribute to the overall comfort.
The property is described as well-equipped, with a kitchen that has everything needed, including thoughtful additions like a slow cooker. The ample parking and well-maintained outdoor space are also appreciated.
While guests find the host welcoming and informative, there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score is set to null.

These properties are set in a small cluster of houses along a no-through road, just over 1 mile from the heart of Frome, a bustling market town with weekly markets and an ever-growing popular monthly market which takes over the town centre. There are cobbled, pedestrianised streets with rivulets running down, and an array of cafés, individual shops, leisure and entertainment. Herons’ Weir (ref EXY) and adjoining Dippers’ Folly (ref EXZ) have been converted from an old industrial workshop building and have been fitted out to a high standard with oak doors and furniture, and marble floors with underfloor heating on the ground floor. Each bedroom has its own bathroom or shower room, some of which are en-suite. The building sits next to the River Mells facing Jeffries Mill sluice and weir. Both cottages have riverside sitting areas from which to relax with a drink and enjoy the wildlife and ever changing river setting - there are always plenty of birds and you may be lucky enough to see the heron, dippers, kingfisher, fish jumping and otters. There are many picturesque villages within the region, offering great country and riverside walks, with a welcoming pub at the end. The area makes an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding attractions, including Stonehenge, Longleat House, Safari Park and Gardens, Wells Cathedral and Bishops Palace, the spiritual town of Glastonbury with its abbey and tor, the amazing Cheddar Gorge, the designer outlet village at Street, a number of National Trust properties and the Roman city of Bath, with its Georgian buildings, sweeping crescents, spa baths and lively culture. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

We loved our time at Heron's Weir. The property is much bigger than the photos imply and the ever-changing river view is a constant source of enjoyment. The kitchen is supplied with probably the best selection of equipment we have ever had in a holiday home and nothing is too much trouble for Rachel. Lots to see and do within a relatively short drive: Lacock Abbey and village, Stourhead and Bath are all within approx half an hour's drive. Frome itself is full of interesting, eclectic and independent shops. Or just stay in with a log fire, a good book and a view of the river.Would we return - a wholehearted yes!

Very clean and spacious cottage with comfy beds. Has an excellent equipped kitchen. The towels supplied are of good quality but a little on small side so will take own next time. The view is wonderful. The setting is peaceful. You just don't want to leave.Sadly we didn't see the otters and missed most wild life as we were out in the day and the evenings dark.Frome is worth a visit and best to park in the cattle market car park. We visited Bath and used the park and ride. The host Rachel is a lovely lady, she will spend time chatting about the accommodation and wildlife. We stayed for 3 nights and have just rebooked for 7 nights in August. We were lucky and was able to book in early which we were great full for as of the time of year.
