Wells is known for being England's smallest city and is named after the springs that bubble up in the grounds of Bishop's Palace with its famous moat. Within the city you will also find a grand 12th century cathedral, as well as Vicars Close, where you will find the oldest complete medieval street in Europe and the market square offers an array shops and eateries. The surrounding area is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers plenty of outdoor opportunities, including caving and rock climbing, and for road biking and mountain biking, while walkers can simply explore on foot.
