Guests say

Axbridge Lodge Premier in Cheddar offers a private and scenic location with friendly staff. Guests appreciate the spacious lodges, comfortable beds, and the addition of a hot tub, though some found the hot tub's condition varied. While the lodge's cleanliness and maintenance received mixed reviews, with some guests noting a need for refurbishment and deeper cleaning, the overall experience for many was positive, with intentions to rebook or recommend.

Cleanliness was a concern for several guests, with reports of mould, stained carpets, and unclean kitchen appliances. However, some guests found their lodge to be very clean, indicating inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The location is highly praised for its amazing and private setting. It is situated close to the village of Cheddar, with guests enjoying the surrounding area and the convenience of local amenities.

Guests found the beds comfortable and the lodges spacious. However, some noted that the furniture, particularly sofas, were worn and uncomfortable, and mattresses varied in firmness.

Facilities like the hot tub and kitchen equipment were appreciated, but there were several reports of maintenance issues such as damaged flooring, mould, and appliances needing repair or replacement.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches in the reviews provided, so it is not possible to assess this category.

We had a problem with a very bad smell in the en suite. We reported this in the morning by phone, and again in person in the afternoon eventually someone was sent out late afternoon. Although they got rid of the very bad smell by putting a bomb down the drain , it still smelt very damp and dirty . The carpet to the en-suite ( in between the bedroom anden suite ) was badly stained. We had stayed here many times before and were very disappointed with this lodge. Standards of cleanliness have definitely gone down and the staff on this visit were not very helpful.

The accommodation was disappointing. From the outside, it looked lovely but as soon as we opened the door. It became apparent that the lodge (Axminster Premier) was tired and worn, and had not been well cleaned. There was damage to the flooring and the curtains were ripped in the living room. On entering the bedrooms, there was mould on the exterior walls. The master bedroom has lots of mould under the bedside tables and a thick layer of dust over both lamps. The ensuite bathroom was worse, with significant mould around the window, around and under the mirror, and all around the shower and grouting. The taps were encrusted with limescale and the shower screen had not been cleaned in some time. Several other issues were found throughout our stay: the fuse box panel in the work through wardrobe was held shut with insulation tape and kept falling open; the hot tub was not level and it seemed that the whole deck wasn't level; the en-suite bathroom floor had a soft spot and a defined ridge; despite being a "6 person" lodge, there wasn't a pot big enough to cook pasta or rice for 6 people.
