An attractive, link-detached period cottage, hidden down a winding single track lane within the South Somerset village of Tatworth also known as South Chard, just three miles from Chard, close to the borders with Dorset and Devon. This Chard cottage has been renovated to a very good standard to provide couples and small family groups with a perfect home-from-home Somerset village holiday experience. The cosy Chard holiday cottage has three bedrooms with windows overlooking the charming small garden and adjacent little lane, together with both a bath and shower room, a kitchen with dining area and stairs leading to the first floor and a charming sitting room which benefits from a warming woodburner.
The attractive small garden of this Chard holiday cottage offers a front, sunny walled patio; a restful place to relax and plan your day's activities. Locally, there are lovely rural walks to be had, whilst a short drive takes you into nearby Chard which offers an array of interesting shops, inns and restaurants. Within easy reach of this Chard cottage there are several historic houses and well-tended gardens to visit, including Barrington Court, Forde Abbey and Montecute House, alternatively take the easy drive south towards the market town of Axminster, and then on to the scenic Jurassic Coast, where a visit to the friendly seaside resort of Lyme Regis makes a lovely day out.

Tatworth is a delightful village, located near to the borders of Dorset and Devon. Sometimes referred to as South Chard, Tatworth has many attractive buildings and local cycle routes and walks available.

It is situated in a very quiet lane yet close to main roads for easy access in all directions. Sue and Phil are very friendly and helpful and came the next day to sort out a problem with the heating thermostat; whilst there Phil also did a couple of maintenance jobs we pointed out to him. The cottage is much more spacious than shown in the photos - in fact, the photos don't do it justice at all. The lounge is colourful and cosy, the kitchen and utility room have all the equipment you could want, it's great having a kitchen/diner separate from the living room with two TVs, and also two bathrooms is a bonus. Be aware that there are 5 steps down and 5 up from 2 of the bedrooms to the bathroom, so anyone with mobility problems, for example balance problems at night when visiting the toilet (me), would want to sleep in the third (single) bedroom, which is right next to the bathroom. Yes the lane is very narrow and bendy but we managed okay in our Skoda Roomster. The exit on to School Lane is quite scary as vision is very restricted by parked cars. We visited the Fleet Air Museum, Forde Abbey, Ham Hill and lovely Sidmouth, all reasonably close. Chard has a good selection of shops and the Old Poppe Inn was excellent. We definitely highly recommend Rose Cottage as a base for visiting Somerset, Dorset and Devon.

Tap was partially broken. Emailed owner per advice in the information booklet but never received a reply. Have stayed in cleaner cottages but standard was acceptable.
