Widcombe Grange is a large self-catering property with a games barn, a two-acre fishing lake, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub, and a party room. The island gazebo has a license for weddings, so the venue is ideal for an intimate ceremony and celebration but is also popular for luxury hen parties, corporate events, and big family holidays.

Culmhead is wonderfully rural yet convenient for Taunton, just six miles from the train station with good road links from the M5. It's a relief to know that you won't waste your precious time navigating miles of country lanes before you reach your holiday home. Before you know it, you'll be unpacked and unwinding with a drink in the walled garden or the elegant sitting room. There is more than enough to keep everyone happy without leaving the grounds. You can make your stay even more fun by booking on-site archery, yoga, bouncy castle, karaoke, massage and manicures. Widcombe Grange is enormous with accommodation over two floors in the main house and adjacent Keeper's Cottage.

Main House

Downstairs:

Spacious entrance hall big enough to leave coats and wellies.

Walk through the hall to one of the sitting rooms with views over the rear garden. Comfortable sofas and a decorative fireplace make this a great space to relax with coffee or drinks after dinner.

There is a cosy den/playroom attached to the sitting room. It's a favourite spot for younger guests who can flop down in the beanbags with a book or game. French doors open onto the patio.

A second sitting room has a log burner with logs provided.

You'll love the country kitchen. It has so much storage and bench space, a modern range, and all the mod cons you'd expect from a luxurious self-catering holiday home. Do the cooking yourself or bring in a caterer or private chef for a special meal or to fill the fridge and freezer with delicious food.

Decorated in a gorgeous sage-green colour with a stunning mahogany table, the dining room is the perfect setting for everything from breakfast to a formal celebration meal.

One of the seven king/twin rooms is on the ground floor. The Drake Room has zip and link beds, an antique chest of drawers, and dual-aspect windows with garden views. The ensuite has a shower, WC and a handbasin.

No big house is complete without a utility room. This one has laundry and cleaning facilities as well as a cloakroom with a WC.

Upstairs:

Stairs lead from the entrance hallway to the first floor and six bedrooms. All are beautifully furnished with beds made up for your arrival and bath towels provided.

Kingfisher is a double with an ensuite bath/shower room.

Woodpecker is twin room with two single beds.

Peacock and Otter have zip and link beds you can configure as twin or double beds. Please let the owner know your requirements when booking.

Dovecote and Roost are double rooms overlooking the gardens at the front of the house.

There are three shared bathrooms and an extra WC on this level.

Keepers Cottage

The games barn separates Keepers Cottage from the Main House. It's completely self-contained with five bedrooms. It is only rented with the main house, so you will never have to share Widcombe Grange's facilities.

Downstairs:

Country kitchen/diner with a pine breakfast table seating six.

Two double/twin rooms (Gamekeepers and Woodcutters) with zip and link beds.

Shower room with a shower, WC and handbasin.

Upstairs:

Thatchers and Orchard bedrooms have double/twin beds and Poachers is a double room.

Orchard has an ensuite and there is also a seperate bathroom.

Coach House - games room with table football, a small snooker table and other entertainment. These can be moved out so the room can be used for dancing.

Outside: A courtyard garden has a shed for wood storage, bike storage, and a hot tub. The Pole Barn is near the swimming pool and perfect for summer barbecues. There are also acres of grounds with lawn, woodland, and flower beds.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath and pool towels are included. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement and with a small surcharge. Please note that children would need to be supervised around the grounds as there are unfenced lakes. Smoking indoors is not permitted.
