About this property

Plan the perfect house party, wellbeing retreat, celebration or even your work function at Somerset Manor. This spacious former-rectory, which dates from the late 1600s, sleeps 20 people in 10 bedrooms with a small sofa bed suitable for children (extra charge) if you need it. The luxury holiday house is an hour from Bath, Bristol and Stonehenge, and even closer to Longleat and other popular attractions in Somerset and Wiltshire. However, with onsite amenities that include an outdoor swimming pool (May to September), hot tub, sauna, games room, cinema room, and landscaped gardens and lawns, you won't have to leave the property to have an incredible time.

Somerset Manor is a superb country house for reunions, weekend parties, wellness retreats, and corporate workshops. It's near Templecombe, about 40 miles south of Bristol and 16 miles from Shepton Mallet, surrounded by beautiful countryside with features that include a games room, tennis court, outdoor swimming pool (May to September), hot tub and sauna. Space is no problem - this impressive holiday home sleeps 20 people in ten elegant bedrooms, five of which can be configured as twins or doubles to suit your needs. In short, it's fantastic and exactly what you need for your self-catering hen weekend, milestone birthday celebration, wellbeing holiday, or Christmas with your extended family.

A break at Somerset Manor is wonderfully indulgent. The owners have given every consideration to their guests' pleasure with high-quality furnishings, luxurious bed linens and towels, and ensuring the house is well-stocked with books and games to help you relax and have fun. Have your groceries delivered, and you won't have to step outside the gates until it's time to leave. Instead, spend your days lazing in the sunshine on a lounger by the pool or in the hot tub, preparing for the night ahead (or recovering from the night before!) with a refreshing swim or sauna. There is ample room in the garden or the orangery for yoga and pilates. Alternatively, get your blood pumping on the tennis court, football pitch or the big trampoline. The estate manager can arrange horseriding and recommend local caterers to make your stay even more relaxed and enjoyable.

Templecombe is only an hour from Bristol, Bath and Stonehenge, meaning a day of shopping and sightseeing is easy to arrange. Closer to home are attractions like Longleat, Glastonbury, the Haynes Motor Museum, Sherbourne Castle, Wincanton Races, Stourhead, and the West and East Somerset heritage railways. The owner provides 13 bicycles for exploring the area around Somerset Manor, and there are many beautiful country walks in and around Templecombe.

Somerset Manor is expertly managed to ensure no detail is overlooked for your stay. Weekend, mid-week and week-long bookings are possible all year round.

Accommodation Comprises:

Somerset Manor was built as a rectory in 1686 and was owned by the same family for over 200 years. It is now expertly managed by a small team who oversee every detail so your stay is nothing less than perfect.

Ground Floor:

  • Five reception/entertaining spaces are on the ground floor. Some accommodate everyone while others provide a more intimate space for quiet conversations or breakout groups. The biggest reception room is the orangery, with beautiful garden views and timber floors. It has wicker tables and chairs but these can be removed to create space for activities.
  • An elegant drawing room with a proper fireplace is a gorgeous spot to sit and relax. High ceilings, large windows and lots of natural light add to its charm.
  • A cosy sitting room decorated in rich tones with an original fireplace makes a lovely place to settle back with a board game, book and a glass of wine.
  • Tall windows with timber shutters, a luxurious antique rug, and pale walls mean the dining room can function as a beautiful space for formal celebration meals or relaxed dining, depending on your needs.
  • To say the kitchen is well-equipped is an understatement. There is a cream AGA in the original inglenook fireplace and a wealth of cupboards stocked with equipment and utensils. Appliances include everything down to a blender, coffee maker, and a Kitchen Aid.
  • Next to the kitchen, the Orangery with French doors into the garden provides a gentle start to the day.
  • There is a utility/boot room and three cloakrooms on this level.
  • First Floor:

  • Master bedroom with a superking sized sleigh bed and a seating area. The ensuite has a freestanding bath, shower, WC and handbasin.
  • Two superking/twin rooms, one with an ensuite that has a shower over the bath.
  • Kingsized room with an ensuite shower room.
  • Bathroom with a bath, WC and handbasin.
  • Top Floor:

  • The biggest of the top floor bedrooms has two double beds to sleep up to four people.
  • There are three more bedrooms with superking/twin beds, one also having a double sofa bed.
  • A snug with a sofa and armchairs provides a separate living area for guests staying on the top floor.
  • Two bathrooms, one with a bath and the other with a bath and a shower, complete the top floor accommodation.
  • Lower Ground Floor: The party is down here in games room with a three-quarter sized pool table, and a cinema room.

The Dovecote: The Dovecote is a separate, self-contained cottage next to the Big House. It sleeps four people in two bedrooms (one superking and one superking/twin) with a bathroom, kitchen, and a living/dining room.

Outside: Fantastic grounds include landscaped gardens with lawns. There is an outdoor pool with loungers, a patio with a barbecue and an outdoor dining set, a hot tub, and a sauna.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, and towels for the bathroom and pool are all included. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement. Somerset Manor is a non-smoking property.
