Guests say

This summary has been generated using feedback from guests who have stayed at this property

Guests consistently praise Heyden Cottage for its peaceful and secluded woodland setting, ideal for walks and wildlife. The cottage's charm, cosy atmosphere, and well-equipped kitchen are frequently mentioned, along with the spacious garden and secure area for dogs. While some guests note the lack of TV and mobile signal as a positive for a tranquil retreat, others mention minor issues with maintenance and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Cleanliness

Reviews consistently describe the cottage as clean and well-maintained, with only one mention of an oil smell that was promptly addressed. The high standard of cleanliness contributes to the property's warm and inviting atmosphere.

Location

The location is highly praised for its seclusion, proximity to nature, and walking opportunities directly from the cottage. Some guests mention noise from a nearby road, but this does not detract significantly from the overall appreciation of the setting.

Comfort

The cottage is frequently described as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with a particularly homely kitchen and comfortable beds. A few guests mention a chilly upstairs bathroom and a desire for outdoor seating, but these are minor points in otherwise positive feedback.

Facilities

Facilities are generally well-received, with ample wood for fires and a well-stocked kitchen. Some guests experienced issues with Wi-Fi, showers, and a lack of TV, which suggests room for improvement in the maintenance of facilities.

About this property

On the edge of a large and beautiful wood, Heyden Cottage is a wonderful moorland Exmoor cottage found at the end of its own private uneven drive. With fabulous walks and mountain bike trails from the door and views across moorland from most windows it sits in a magical spot, great for stargazing. Inside there's a huge heart-of-the-house kitchen with dining table/chairs and a sofa plus wood burning stove to relax in front of after a hard day exploring the hills. There is also a cosy sitting room with an open fire (please note there is no TV at this property) and also a ground floor WC and shower room. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a double, twin and a single plus another bathroom with separate shower. Outside a suntrap courtyard with table/chairs and beyond the woodland and orchard to discover. From this unique base you can explore the very best of Exmoor; visit the hilltop castle of Dunster, take a trip to the idyllic National Trust village of Selworthy and explore the coastal village of Porlock. The resort town of Minehead is just 1 and a half miles away and is also worth a visit if you can drag yourself away from such a tranquil base.

Dunster is a popular tourist village near the North Somerset coast and is a largely unspoiled spot: the centre of the town retains many old buildings which hug the winding cobbled streets.
