This spacious holiday retreat is in the quaint village of Old Sodbury, 1.5 miles from the medieval market town of Chipping Sodbury. The pet-friendly property welcomes up to eight adults and two children and is the perfect setting for large family get-togethers and special holidays with friends. The long-distance walking trail, The Cotswold Way, passes through the village, making it a great base for keen walkers – there’s a particularly scenic section that leads from the village to an Iron Age hillfort. The property sits on the fringes of the Cotswold National Landscape, famous for its chocolate-box villages such as Bisley (22 miles) and Slad (21 miles). Historic Painswick (22 miles), with its 99 yew trees and stunning rococo garden, makes a lovely day out, as does Westonbirt National Arboretum (9.5 miles) and the National Trust’s Dyrham Park (7 miles). For shopping and eating out, the vibrant cities of Bath and Bristol are within 15 miles.
The single-storey stone property is set around a central courtyard and is decorated in a contemporary style with muted tones, statement furniture, and a fabulous collection of quirky artwork. At the heart of the home is a large kitchen/diner with all the equipment and worktop space needed to cater for a large group, along with a banquet-style dining table for hosting dinner parties and family celebrations. In the evenings, come together in the gorgeous lounge, where a plush, velvet sofa is positioned in front of the Smart TV and an open fire – creating the perfect, cosy spot in winter. Alternatively, in summer months, slide open the glass doors to the garden for indoor/outdoor living. The holiday retreat has one king-size bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and three beautiful double bedrooms all decorated in their own, unique style. There’s also a family room with two single beds and a set of bunk beds and sofa bed (suitable for children only). This room is home to a fun cinema area with a projector screen that’s sure to be a hit with the younger members of the party. The property has a stylish family bathroom, and rounding off the accommodation is a handy utility room and a games room with a pool table.
Outside, the enclosed garden features a large lawn for playing outdoor games, and a sunny terrace with furniture, a BBQ, and a pizza oven – ideal for al fresco meals on a summer’s evening. There’s also a sheltered, central courtyard which makes a lovely spot for a morning coffee or a glass of wine after a day of adventure. The property has ample private parking.
