One of South Devon's most popular tourist destinations, Paignton can be found in the middle of Torbay between Brixham and Torquay. This lively town is home to a fantastic variety of shops, taverns, clubs, and restaurants in addition to its vast stretches of sandy beach and scenic harbour. The town has a world-famous zoo and sea life centre and is a great home base for exploring the attractions of the English Riviera. Torquay, which is close by, is just as lively, with lots of great places to shop, interesting museums, and beautiful green spaces. Walking and cycling may be enjoyed along the neighbouring spectacular coastline, which features gorgeous stretches of beach and craggy cliff tops, while the rolling meadows of South Devon provide an excellent environment for afternoon strolls and a plethora of picturesque picnic places. The town of Paignton is a fantastic year-round holiday destination for families.

All I need to say here is that despite the property being reasonably priced it did not present as good value for money. We departed after the second night of a 4 night booking and would not re-visit.

The property ticked the boxes we were looking for as in old quirky cottage, wood burner, near the beach, near the town centre however the area it is located in is very rough. We had no real issues with the cottage itself for the price we paid the facilities were what we expected, however I would not like to stay in this area with a young family, luckily our two are 13 and 15. We do not consider ourselves snobs at all we enjoy a night out and a drink but some of the locals around the cottage and surrounding area which u need to walk through every day are pretty scary. There are flats nearby which I could hear drunken arguments in the early hours of the morning, I mean 7:30 am! Another of these residents simply threw their rubbish out of the open flat window onto the path outside. I actually found myself clearing this up one day because it was depressing to walk passed only to find broken plates and a mop on the path the next day! One one occasion we went to walk through the park to the beach and a mattress had been dumped, fair enough but the next day on the same walk to the beach there was a bloke spark out laid near the path (10am). Like I said at the start these problems are by no means the fault of the owners of the cottage who I wish well but I would have liked to have been warned about what a dump the surrounding area was before I took my family there.

It had its drawbacks of course- steep spiral staircase and fire escape access to the balcony or a walk around the street but we coped and still loved it. So thoughtfully renovated and immaculately clean. Good walking access to all local amenities. Loved our visit to the local theatre and steam engine trip to Dartmouth. Kind friendly neighbours. Lovely for small family!!
