Guests say

Driftwood is a well-regarded cottage in Torquay, praised for its prime location, modern and clean interiors, and the added luxury of a hot tub. Guests have enjoyed the property's proximity to the town centre and the comfort of the beds, making it a favoured choice for a relaxing stay. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience has been positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Most guests found Driftwood to be very clean and well-maintained, with only a few reports of cleanliness issues such as a smelly fridge, mould in the shower, and dust. These seem to be isolated incidents rather than the norm.

The location is highly praised for being close to the town centre, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and attractions. The convenience of the location contributes significantly to the positive experience of guests.

Guests have consistently mentioned the comfort of the beds and the overall homeliness of the property. However, some guests noted the property could feel cramped for larger groups and mentioned issues with temperature control.

The facilities, especially the hot tub, are a highlight for many guests. Some minor maintenance issues were reported, such as a broken shower arm and a lack of clarity on refuse collections. The hot tub maintenance schedule could be better communicated.

While guests have appreciated the overall experience, there is no specific mention of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to score this category.

Nice clean accommodation , only criticism was the dining table chairs were threadbare in places and put us off sitting at the table. Maybe owner should think about replacing them.

The reason we chose the property was because of the hot tub so we were going to use it as a base and socialise in the evenings relaxing in the tub. On arrival the property was very clean and tidy inside (only two coffee saches for four guests? But i guess thats just a nice little extra anyway) . The following morning we went to use the hot before going out but unfortunately the water smelt slightly stagnant and was only 34 degrees (certainly not hot tub temperature). I found test strips for the tub, there was no indication of chlorine or bromine in the water hence it was not set up properly. This was somewhat disappointing as the attraction of the property was the hot tub hence I felt we paid a higher than average price for the area. I phoned the owner (Gary) and explained once we were able to catch up with eachother. Gary was apologetic and put the error down to the company responsible for maintenance. Not a fault of the property but the following evening the neighbours had a loud domestic incident (not really what we wanted when we were trying to treat our friends to a relaxing weekend). I'm sure on other occasions this would be an ideal location for anyone wanting to stay in Torquay, easy walking distance to key locations, but on this occasion it didn't work out for us. There are understandably lots of rules around the hot tub use with a potential fine of £100 if they are breached. It's a shame there wasn't an offer of a £100 refund as the facility wasn't available. I wouldn't choose to stay at the property again as there are better value locations / hotels that would be suitable for similar, if not less money.
