Gladwyn Cottage is a characterful and cosy property with a well-equipped kitchen and charming features. It is situated in a peaceful village, ideal for exploring the countryside. Guests have enjoyed the local amenities and the cottage's warmth, although some noted traffic noise and minor cleanliness issues.
Cleanliness was generally satisfactory, but some guests mentioned specific issues such as a 'manky loo brush' and dirty baking trays. These seem to be isolated incidents rather than a trend, hence the above-average score.
The location is appreciated for its peacefulness and proximity to local attractions and amenities. However, some guests noted the presence of a busy road, which could be a concern for those sensitive to noise.
Most guests found the cottage comfortable, with a warm and cosy atmosphere. The presence of a Rayburn and log burner was particularly appreciated. However, taller guests mentioned low ceilings and doorways as a discomfort.
The cottage is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and has a lot of character. Some guests suggested additional crockery and cutlery, and there were minor maintenance issues like unreliable heating.
While some guests mentioned receiving wine and milk, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of such gestures or other thoughtful touches across all stays. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

Whilst the cottage itself is lovely, what needs to be in the description is that the front door is less than 6ft and the living room ceiling is only just over 6ft. Being 6 foot 4 tall this led to a very painful arrival on the dark and a further 5 days of having to walk around stooped over.

Just got back from a five night break for my 71st birthday at Gladwyn Cottage and had a really comfortable stay. The property is well equipped and has most of the things you’d have at home. Also nice to see a decent supply of dishwasher tablets, washing machine capsules, washing up liquid, hand soap and toilet rolls. When we looked to book initially, the small print said 2 small dogs allowed. We have a Great Dane and a stocky Chocolate Labrador. I requested that cottages.com contact the owner to see if they would authorise us to take the dogs. They did and all was kindly signed off. (And there was more than enough room for them.)Chippenham is the nearest town of any use and is only about 4 miles away. The train station is easy to access with lots of parking. Bath is about 10 mins and Bristol is about 30 mins.I’d happily recommend this property.

We enjoyed a warm and cosy four night stay at Gladwyn Cottage in January. Spacious, characterful and well equipped cottage. Great location for visits to places such as Lacock Abbey and Bath. The large kitchen diner was perfect for catching up with friends and family. Traffic at the rear was not a problem. The cottage is dog friendly with an enclosed front garden and a very handy recreation field just a few minutes up the lane which was handy for morning walks. We would definitely stay again. Natasha, the caretaker, was friendly and helpful and resolved a couple of very minor things very quickly.
