If you want to get away from it all, The Old Stables at Bradley's Farm is your perfect bolthole. Set in a former 19th-century stable yard and at the end of a long, private farm lane, the cottage enjoys open views of the rolling hills in the distance. Stay here and you'll be able to explore a secluded walking route that dates back to medieval times, as well as a private Mediterranean style botanical garden and arboretum. Both of which are only available to guests and their hosts who live nearby on the farm and 17 acre estate.

The cottage has been recently converted and contains contemporary fixtures and fittings, influenced by Scandinavian style. The vaulted ceiling of the large living and dining area provides the perfect back for for some cosy evenings after a day spent exploring the countryside or nearby gems like Bradford on Avon. Little thoughtful touches, such as the USB sockets in the bedroom or the original rustic tiles throughout make the cottage a delightful place to escape from the hustle and bustle.

We were very happy with the accommodation provided by the Old Stables. Felt quite secluded despite the proprietors being conveniently nearby. Well placed for a number of visits including The Courts (walkable), Great Chalfield (a longer walk - don't use Google's route), Iford Manor, Westwood, Corsham Court, Lacock Abbey and Stourhead.Drawbacks to note (didn't really worry us):- Access is by a long unmade drive with two gates you need to open and close. Could be tricky for a car with very low ground clearance.- TV provided, but the signal was patchy.- WiFi provided, but the broadband connection is very slow by modern urban standards.

There were lots of things about Bradley's Farm which we liked - the location, the quiet, the patio doors looking out over the countryside among others. But as the property was expensive there were a few things which we think should have been better. We thought the towels were not of good quality, and it would have been nice to have nice large bath towels. The bedding also let it down. It was a bad mistake in particular to have such strongly scented bedding, As one of us is hyper sensitive to some perfumes, this meant that the first night's sleep was very disturbed.
