Guests say

Downs View is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its spaciousness, comfort, and cleanliness. Guests enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the lovely views. The property's location is ideal for visiting local attractions like Longleat. Some guests mentioned thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, although these are not guaranteed for every stay.

The property consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests noting it as spotless and well-maintained. One mention of dog mess in the garden suggests a slight oversight, but overall, the cleanliness is highly regarded.

The location is generally praised for its proximity to attractions like Longleat and the beautiful views it offers. However, some guests noted the busy road and lack of walking paths directly from the property, which slightly impacted the score.

Guests found the property roomy and comfortable, with special mentions of themed rooms and comfortable beds. The presence of a well-equipped kitchen added to the comfort. Some concerns about road noise and a leaky tap were noted but did not significantly detract from the overall comfort.

The facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen and utility facilities. Some guests felt that additional supplies such as toilet rolls and bin bags were needed. The mention of poor Wi-Fi connection and some maintenance issues like a leaking tap and hot water problems slightly lower the score.

Many guests appreciated the thoughtful touches such as welcome packs and dog treats. However, as these are not mentioned in every review, it is politely noted that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed for all stays.

Spacious, tidy and clean. Our family of 10 plus baby and 2 dogs had a great time. We arrived at the cottage early evening in November and it was not easily visible in darkness so an outside light may have been useful. Much easier in daylight. All the directions given were fine. The local village was close by but felt that due to lack of a footpath by the busy road, we couldn’t walk in with the children and dogs. We did have a lovely time and would recommend it.

The house was warm, cosy and comfortable. Everything was well thought out and we everything we needed was provided. It is also a fabulous place to stay with a dog. The enclosed garden and being a bungalow made it very convenient. Lynne and Russell were easy to communicate with beforehand and we were made to feel so welcome. My Mum felt very touched by their thoughtfulness as we celebrated her 80th birthday. It really did feel like a special weekend away. - it is these little extra, thoughtful things that make a stay memorable and special. Thank you!

The garden was ideal for my two dogs, all enclosed so I knew they were safe( which is very important) The bedrooms were very well decorated, very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. Just one thing, the knives could do with sharpening. My husband being a chef found it difficult to use them. There had been some work done on the property as looks different from the photos ( for the better). Definitely would reccomend and we would definitely book Downs View again.
