Guests say

The Gardens offers a peaceful and welcoming retreat on the edge of Thetford Forest, with guests consistently praising the tranquil location, friendly host, and opportunities for countryside walks. The accommodation is cosy and well-suited for solo travellers, with many appreciating the comfortable bed and thoughtful touches. While some found the space smaller than expected and noted minor maintenance issues, the overall experience is positive, especially for those seeking relaxation and nature. The host’s hospitality and the presence of friendly animals add to the charm.

Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, though there were isolated mentions of lime scale in the kettle and a lingering smell in the microwave. These were minor issues and did not detract significantly from the overall impression.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful forest setting, and proximity to riverside walks and nature reserves. Guests appreciated the peacefulness and easy access to outdoor activities.

Guests generally found the accommodation comfortable, especially the bed, which was highlighted as exceptionally cosy by some. However, a few found the space smaller than expected and the mattress too firm, which affected their sleep quality.

Facilities were described as adequate for short stays, with a well-furnished studio and a spacious bathroom. Some guests noted the kitchen was small with limited workspace, and there were minor maintenance issues such as a non-working lamp and kettle.

The host, Christine, is frequently mentioned for her warm hospitality and helpfulness, making guests feel at home. While some guests noted the generosity of the host, any gifts or special gestures are not guaranteed for all stays.

An absolute lovely location in the countryside with easy to acces riverside walks. The accomodation was smaller than expected, not large enough for two people and a dog. It was not laid out as shown in the pictures, this meant we couldn't easily watch TV during our stay as it was wall mounted and the bed was side on, the table and chairs were not facing it either. Llittle walking space in the room. The bathroom was nice, large and easy to use. The kitchen was incredibly small, no worktop space or draining/drying area. We couldn't use the kettle as it was fluffy with lime scale and resorted to boiling a pan of water each time. Microwave also smelt of the last curry someone cooked in it. We found the bed was not very sturdy and we we're worried about moving on it. The mattres was solid memory foam and did not give us a comfortable sleep waking up with aches and pains. The host Christine was lovely and the animals on the farm were nice to interact with.

Lovely base for our long weekend. Great walks from the door in beautiful surroundings. Christine was super helpful and responsive. Room was very comfortable and had everything we needed.

Really enjoyed our short stay. It's in a beautiful setting in a small community within the forest. The owner (Christine) was very helpful and most concerned that we were warm enough (which we were). The stay was in January which meant it was very quiet (a plus) but a lot of amenities locally were limited in opening as it was out of season. That's the way it goes.RSPB Lakenheath Fen and WWT Welney are close and well worth visiting. We had an excellent lunch one day at the "Grain", near Attleborough.
