Old Alton Hall Farmhouse receives glowing praise for its peaceful, scenic location near Alton Water, ideal for countryside walks and dog-friendly stays. Guests consistently highlight the spacious, well-equipped, and immaculately clean house, with secure gardens and thoughtful touches throughout. The property is especially suited for families and dog owners, offering privacy and direct access to nature. While a few minor issues are mentioned, such as pet restrictions upstairs and some dated features, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.
Multiple reviews describe the property as spotlessly clean, very clean, and well presented. Only one review mentions a dated shower room, but cleanliness is not criticised. The consistently high praise justifies a near-perfect score.
The location is repeatedly described as beautiful, peaceful, secluded, and perfect for walks, with direct access to Alton Water and proximity to Ipswich and Felixstowe. The setting is a major highlight for guests.
Guests frequently mention comfortable beds, a homely atmosphere, and plenty of space. One review notes some mattresses could be replaced soon, but overall comfort is highly rated.
The house is praised for being extremely well equipped, with everything needed for families, children, and dogs. Facilities such as games, books, DVDs, and even an Xbox are mentioned. Minor issues include a tricky microwave and an unheated shower room, but these do not significantly detract from the overall experience.
Guests appreciate thoughtful touches such as welcome baskets and provisions for dogs (beds, toys, biscuits). Please note, while many guests mention these gifts, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

This cottage was perfect if you want to be away from everything and with easy access to beautiful walking. There are wonderful views from the windows to see the variety of wildlife that lives in the area and you are right next to Alton Water reservoir which you can walk round. It is one of the best equipped cottages we've ever been to (and there have been a lot) for both adults and children. They have really tried to think of everything. The microwave drove us mad however, although we understand this may be replaced having mentioned it to the owners. The downstairs showerroom has no heating so can be pretty cold. It is also a little dated but this adds to the comfortable feeling you have when staying there. We definitely hope to visit again, in the summer next time.

Very comfortable and clean with everything a family would need for a lovely countryside break. Great for walks and plenty to do if the weather prevents. Beds very comfortable and amenities for all you would need. The addition of an Xbox was a happy extra for the younger members of our family and the reading corner was perfect too. We didn't have dogs but they would have been well catered for with an outside pen if needed and plenty of 'doggy' extras. Will definitely be back to this lovely house
