About this property

Situated in a peaceful, yet central spot in the fabulous seaside village of Aldeburgh, Aldeburgh House is a stunning, bright and airy gem. It is ideal for a large family or group of friends looking for luxury modern living. With 4 immaculate bedrooms, this special holiday home sleeps eight guests. Aldeburgh is a delight, brimming with charming pastel painted cottages lining the promenade, art galleries, colourful boats and fresh-fish shacks stretching along the beach and numerous quaint coffee shops.

Aldeburgh House boasts an impressive, contemporary exterior within gorgeous, colourful gardens. The spacious hallway gives you an indication of the bright, social space to come. The gourmet kitchen is a chef’s delight with huge appliances and painted in a wonderful blue hue. The smart Ercol dining area has plenty of space for everyone to catch up and enjoy a delicious meal. The open plan kitchen diner has double doors to the living room. With its shades of blue and green and warm wooden floor, the wood-burning stove completes this inviting, sophisticated space. Everywhere is incredibly light, making you feel happy to wake up in the morning!

The house is built on three levels with the bedrooms on the upper floors. Sumptuous sleeping space awaits along with four gorgeous, pristine bathrooms, all of which are en-suite. All are very different. You have the striking white and black bathroom with a roll top bath, the serene cream and white shower room with its massive shower and the classy blue and white shower room. Three of the bedrooms feature king-size beds and the last has comfy twins. There are two master bedrooms here, one on the first floor and the other on the top floor with a Juliet balcony.

Outside you will find a lovely, colourful walled garden with a lush lawn, Suffolk sunshine and alfresco dining. It is secluded and beautiful with the gorgeous scent of roses in the air.

The quaint village of Aldeburgh offers highly distinctive architecture, much charm, a welcoming ambience and a lovely beach. Famous for its connection with the composer Benjamin Britten, it boasts a stunning ‘Scallop’ sculpture on the beach which is 4 metres high and is inscribed with the words ‘I hear those voices that will not be drowned’ from Britten’s famous opera Grimes. There is an annual Aldeburgh Festival which takes place in June and was originally founded by Benjamin Brittan. He was actually born in nearby Lowestoft but spend the last 30+ years of his live living in Aldeburgh. You can visit The Red House where he stayed for a glimpse of his life. Visitors can buy the freshest of catches at the fisherman’s huts on the beach for your alfresco supper or visit the numerous art galleries. You can also head along to the estuary to admire the lovely sailboats and yachts.

Just along the coast, Thorpeness is a magical, mystical village where you will find The Meare, an artificially created, Peter Pan themed boating lake. The landings and tiny islands have Peter Pan names such as ‘The Pirate’s Lair’ and ‘Wendy’s Island’. Visitors can hire rowing boats and enjoy family rowing on the water. Thorpeness Golf Club is regarded as one of Suffolk’s finest with 18 holes and par 70, just a stone’s throw from the beach.

Further up the coast, you can visit the very popular resort of Southwold which is almost an island. It is bordered by the North Sea to the East, by the River Blyth and Southwold Harbour to the South West and by Buss Creek to the North. Southwold is home to the famous Adnams Brewery, a previous winner of The Good Pub Guide’s Brewery of the Year. Southwold Pier is brimming with thriving shops, eateries and amusements. There are plenty of fish and chips about!

Further afield, you can visit the interesting market towns of Bungay, Beccles and Bury St Edmunds, each with a fascinating history and good range of shops and restaurants. Horse lovers may enjoy a day at the races at Newmarket.
