Guests say

Guests appreciate the cottage's superb location in the charming village of Westleton, with its secure garden and proximity to good walks and pubs. While the property's character and position are highlights, several guests have noted areas for improvement, particularly in cleanliness and maintenance.

Several reviews mention issues with cleanliness, including dirty kitchen surfaces, crockery, and cutlery, as well as cobwebs and stained pillows. These recurring comments suggest that cleanliness is below expectations for many guests.

The location is frequently praised for being in a friendly village with good pubs and walks, and a secure garden for pets. Its quiet position is a consistent positive aspect in the reviews.

Comfort receives mixed feedback. Some guests mention cold rooms and inadequate duvets, while others had a pleasant stay. The lack of consistent comfort experiences leads to an average score.

Guests have reported issues with appliances, heating, and cleanliness of facilities. The need for a deep clean and maintenance of kitchen appliances is noted, indicating room for improvement in this area.

While there is a mention of a welcome gift of wine and biscuits, it is not a recurring theme in the reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately assess the thoughtfulness of the hosts based on the available information.

It was important to have a ground floor bedroom and bathroom for myself as I have limited mobility and visual impairment at 83yrs. The twin bedroom I had was not comfortable at all. It was cold, and the listing did not make it clear that there was nowhere to hang clothes. The only space for this was an alcove covered with a curtain, but the only way to access this was to climb over the bed, which I was unable to do! Behind the curtain there was a rail, however, there were no coat hangers. I find this very annoying and puzzling as to why they wouldn't be included. In this day and age of airbnb etc, these should be the minimum standard. There should have 'been some hooks or something in the room to hang things on, so as not to have to climb over the bed. This should be made clear in the listing. If 2 people were sharing the room, there would be nowhere to put a case or clothes. There did not appear to be any blankets in case of cold nights. The stairs were narrow and very dangerous due to there being no handrail. Anyone with mobility issues would not be safe climbing these stairs. This should be made clear in the details. We had to mop the kitchen floor when we arrived as it was very sticky. We have noticed that other reviewers have mentioned cutlery and crockery not being clean. The house is dressed with the bare minimum of comfort and expense. This could be much nicer with a tiny little bit of effort and would not cost much either. It is clear the owners are working for profit only and not in the interests of their clients. The lounge area could be made more cosy by the addition of a warm mat, it did not feel like a space to relax in when the weather was bad. My friends are younger than me and more physically able, however, they also found the property lacking in comfort.

..the village of Westleton is lovely. The cleaning of the cottage could be better...I had to clean on arrival and dishwash the crockery and cuttlery. I left the property cleaner than when I arrived. A new loo seat would be a good idea. I loved the new hob and oven. Welcome wine and biscuits a nice addition. Overall we really loved the cottage and really pleased we chose 1 Grange Cottages.

Some of the facilities in the kitchen are a bit basic and due to the age of the house noise travels easily - but it is in a great location and we had really good time during our two weeks.
