With a games room and a cinema, Hogbert’s Hideaway has it all, This custom designed truly unique holiday home was once the visitors centre for the Carlton Marshes Wildlife Trust. As you can imagine the location is simply amazing with uninterrupted views of the Suffolk countryside. With walking trails through the reserve to the banks of the broads it’s a wildlife lovers paradise. The house has the added addition of a large patio area, its own cinema room with a 2.2 metre screen and a games room. It is the ideal base for a family holiday or for friends to get together to relax and unwind. Within a stones throw, the Carlton Marshes Centre offers a café, adventure playground and daily activities. Within walking distance and accessible through the reserve there is fishing, sailing boat hire and lessons, paddle boarding and day boat available at Oulton Broad with numerous pubs and restaurants.
Only 3 miles away is the popular resort of Lowestoft, which offers traditional seaside entertainment. Children will love Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, which is just a short drive away. Just down the road is Africa Alive, or visit the lovely seaside resort of Southwold, famous for Adnams Brewery, the pier and summer theatre. Dunwich Heath and Beach, rspb Minsmere, Aldeburgh with its fishing boats and local seafood, and Snape Maltings Concert Hall are also easily accessible. Hire a boat on the glorious Norfolk Broads and watch the weekly speed boat racing on nearby Oulton Broad. The medieval city of Norwich, with its fine shopping, castle, cathedral and museums, is an easy drive. Beach 3.5 Miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful location. Plenty of room for our family and dog. The bedrooms all had lovely views.The only thing that that could have been improved was the fact that our dog could have escaped under the gate or through the fencing around the entrance to the property. Although the courtyard was secure, it would have been nice if it all was. Apart from that it was perfect!

Lovely accommodation, we were a family of 8 celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday, our youngest guest was 5 and the house was perfect.Short walk to the Wherry Hotel was lovely and the wildlife we saw was lovely, would visit again.

Hogberts Hideaway is a wonderful base to fully enjoy Carlton Marshes. The beds are extremely comfortable, soft towels, toiletries supplied & everything was clean and welcoming. The area is quiet with no light pollution so enjoying the night sky was amazing. Wildlife abounds and being able to either view from the lounge or walk staight onto the marshes was a brilliant experience. From a cooking perspective, the kitchen could do with a new frying pan & baking sheets as these were rather tired & worn. Otherwise, the facilities were excellent. Decent sized fridge freezer with a separate wine fridge. We made good use of the cinema & had a thoroughly enjoyable week. Definitely a place to stay again.😊
