Guests say

Lavender House is highly praised for its superb location near the sea and town, offering a spacious, clean, and well-equipped setting for a family holiday. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, ample bathrooms, and thoughtful touches like umbrellas and shopping bags. Some minor maintenance issues were noted, but overall, the property provides a delightful stay.

Most guests found the property to be clean and well-kept, with only one mention of a lack of cleaning products, which does not directly relate to the property's cleanliness upon arrival.

The location is consistently lauded for being close to the sea and within easy walking distance to the pier, beach, and town centre, making it ideal for a seaside holiday.

Guests describe the property as spacious with comfortable beds and sofas, and a lovely garden. However, some guests found the second-floor bedrooms a bit cramped, slightly affecting the score.

The property is well-equipped with a great kitchen and living area, but there were issues with the TV service and a lack of cleaning products. A housekeeper visit without warning also suggests room for improvement in maintenance.

The provision of umbrellas and shopping bags was a thoughtful touch appreciated by guests. No gifts were mentioned, so the score reflects the general thoughtfulness of amenities provided.

About this property

With a light and modern interior, paired with subtle glimpses of the sea, Lavender House is perfect for a group of 8 looking for a holiday on the coast.

What can we say…. This property has the WOW factor, stay a few days and you’ll be wishing you could move in for good or at least book a return visit! Lavender House is a fabulous contemporary property in sought after Southwold. This pretty Victorian villa has bay windows, driveway for parking and four double bedrooms accommodating 8 guests. What’s more, it’s just a stone’s throw from the sea!

The moment you step inside you’ll feel relaxed… from the spacious living room with it’s soft grey sofas to the bright white contemporary fittings in the kitchen/breakfast room and beautifully styled with recessed spotlights and wide bay windows. The style continues to the first and second floors; the master bedroom is opulent with a monochrome palette, pretty chaise longue and extensive wardrobe with mirror sliding doors. This is the ultimate retreat for friends or families looking for something a little special - the perfect coastal bolthole with the beach just a few steps away and the excellent amenities of Southwold close at hand.

Stroll along the prom to the pier, a prominent landmark in Southwold. Stop off at one of the pubs and lunch or a quick pint, alternatively visit one of the lovely delis, grocers or bakers and pack up a picnic. A visit to Southwold wouldn’t be complete without heading off to the pier, dating back to the 1900’s, it was originally built as a landing point for the steamships which use to stop off at the town. Don’t forget to visit the lighthouse - this distinctive landmark at the centre of the town has been guiding vessels into the historical harbour since the late 1800’s.

Lavender House is situated just round the corner from the pier in Southwold. What a great location! We had a lovely sunny week there recently with three of our German Friends who flew over to stay with us(we were five mature ladies). I would say the second floor bedrooms are very small with sloping ceilings which in my opinion would only really suit children. The adults that were using them felt they were cramped. Everything else in the house was fantastic. We did experience people parking across the driveway so we couldn’t get the car out of the drive and also we couldn’t get the car in the drive when we had been out for the day.

Lavender House is in a superb location- take your morning coffee to the sea front or even have an early morning dip. Southwold is lovely for a family holiday with lots of nice facilities for kids and adults alike. The house itself is great but could have one or two improvements to make it a luxury stay. Our family of 6 adults and 1 small child and baby had a lovely holiday.

Lovely comfortable accommodation,in perfect location..beach and pier a step away, shops and eateries a short walk. The house is lovely- light and spacious, great kitchen with everything you need, and large comfortable sofas in the living area. Beds are also comfortable and beautifully fitted out. Lovely garden, we saw rabbits on the lawn early morning/evening! Good to have off street parking. Very thoughtful to have umbrella's and shopping bags provided…the umbrellas especially as it rained a couple of days! All in all,a lovely holiday home.
