About this property

This fun and quirky former bakehouse is a great place to stay while you explore the beautiful countryside and coast of Suffolk. It is well equipped and has a lovely garden in which to relax.

Alec Hill's Bakehouse is a small but perfectly formed place to stay while you explore the wider Suffolk and Norfolk coast and countryside. Set in the village of Wangford, it is just 3 miles to the Victorian seaside resort of Southwold. This quirky and fun little property has an interesting background. Alec Hill used the bakehouse to supply the baked produce for his shop and tea room, situated at No 29, during the 1930s through to the 1950s. The traditional clapboard bakehouse survived a wwii bomb hit and following its time as a bakehouse, became an artist's studio.

The open-plan living space has a well-equipped kitchen and a breakfast bar area whilst there is also space to relax in comfy chairs. The bedroom has beautiful views through the french doors, down to the garden which gently slopes away. Stepping out of the bedroom you descend into the garden which has a number of different spots in which to sit and relax. If you want to bring your bicycles with you, there is secure storage.

Additional Information:

Infants welcome in own Moses basket.

One well behaved dog welcome (small additional charge).

Please note that although this is a ground floor property there are steps down into the living space and down into the garden.

'Miss Munchie', who is next door, can provide lunch boxes, breakfast or an evening meal. Please let us know if you would like more details.

Great location and place to stay for our New Year break. John and Sheila were both really helpful and very friendly, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

The cottage is great. Full of character. It was well stocked with goodies and really clean. The garden is a perfect sanctuary. Love the cottage feel. It's well worth taking a break there. The owners are so friendly and helpful and super dog friendly.
