About this property

Hidden away in the heart of Ashbourne, Derbyshire lies this pretty stone-fronted property, Sycamore Cottage. Perfect for couples, families or friends and residing only a short distance from the Peak District National Park, this dwelling makes a fantastic base for exploring the local surroundings and landscapes. Inside, a well-fitted kitchen provides all the essentials for a self-catered stay and the dining room offers a delightful space to enjoy meals prepared by the designated chef; after tucking into a feast, retreat to the plush sitting room to enjoy a film or two in front of the woodburning stove. If you don’t want your evening to end, step outside to the enclosed garden, complete with outdoor furniture and a hot tub, an idyllic spot for star gazing or enjoying the tranquil surroundings. Ashbourne is a picturesque town located just south of the Peak District Park, with its array of stunning attractions and amenities to offer, as well as breath taking views of the natural landscape, it is a wonderful destination to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Just a stone’s throw away lies Wooton Lodge, Ilam Park, and the limestone structure Reynard’s Cave, which is situated on the easter bank of the gorge of Dovedale and overlooks an appealing view. Thrill seekers should venture further to Stoke-on-Trent where they can spend an extraordinary day riding rollercoasters at Alton Towers Resort, or take a day trip to The Trentham Estate, home to its very own Monkey Forest and Treetop Adventures. Peak Wildlife Park and Rudyard Lake resides further afield in the market town of Leek, home to speciality producers of condiments, confectionary, wines, and craft beers, you can source everything you need to compliment your stay. Encompassed in the stunning heart of Derbyshire, enjoy all of this and more by booking Sycamore Cottage.

Ashbourne, which is located at the southernmost point of the Peak District, is the epitome of an English market town, complete with a market place with stalls, an odd street layout, winding cobblestone lanes, coaching inns, and almshouses. The town was a sophisticated social hub during its prime in the 18th century, and many lovely Georgian structures from this period still stand today. The town is still known as something of a sanctuary for antique hunters today and still has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and inns, but don't expect a deal! The Dove and Manifold Valleys are nearby for those who prefer more outdoor activities, while Alton Towers, with its thrilling collection of thrills and attractions, is only a short drive away for thrill seekers.

The house was warm, homely, sparkly clean, had literally everything you could have wanted, everything worked!

The cottage had everything we needed and more, it was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated and furnished. The hot tub and stunning views were a definite highlight. Ellie and Matt were amazing in answering any questions we had before arrival and couldn’t have done more for us during our stay, I have no hesitations in recommending this cottage for a relaxing break. Thank you x

It was spotlessly clean, comfortable lovely and warm with spectacular views from every window. And despite the weather, the addition of the hot tub was very welcoming after a long walk. The location was perfect for exploring the Peak District with numerous walks close by. It was also nice to meet the owner Ellie who was walking her doggy, We will definitely be booking again and would highly recommend this property. Excellent value for money.
