Swallow's Nest in Craven Arms, Shropshire, is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its comfort, cleanliness, and welcoming touches. Guests appreciate the property's rural charm, convenient location for exploring the area, and the friendly owners. While some noted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
The majority of guests found Swallow's Nest to be clean and tidy, with several reviews specifically mentioning the cleanliness of the cottage. A few comments about the need for updates in the bathroom suggest a slight deduction in the score.
The location is frequently described as tranquil, ideal for touring South Shropshire, and great for walks, indicating a high level of satisfaction. The proximity to local attractions and the peaceful farm setting contribute to the positive feedback.
Comfort is a strong point for Swallow's Nest, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy. The spaciousness and homely feel are often mentioned, although some noise from upstairs and farm dogs slightly affects the score.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the property being described as well-equipped. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as the shower pressure and electrical problems, which necessitate a moderate score.
Guests frequently mention the thoughtful touches like welcome goodies, which include homemade cake and local produce. While these are appreciated, it is important to note that such gifts, though a delightful surprise, are not guaranteed with every stay.

Swallows Nest is located on the entrance to Strefford Hall, also a working farm. The host was super helpful in every way, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was quite large for 1 person and a small dog and had all the comforts of home plus fantastic walks/runs which we could do over the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Craven Arms is the nearest locality for shops / pubs etc., you can walk there through the lanes as long as you have plenty of time as wouldn't recommend navigating the lanes in the dark, otherwise its a quick drive along the A49. The farm has 2 dogs which bark when someone enters/leaves but apart from that you don't hear from them, personally as a lone female I found this quite reassuring as you knew there was no one around if the dogs are quiet. I have already made another booking through the app, easy, stress free and definitely value for money.

The bathroom needs a complete overhaul and the central heating system doesnât work correctly, if at all (the radiators only warmed up once!). The farm dogs do tend to bark but thatâs what dogs do! - donât be put off by that - it didnât worry our dog. Strefford itself is a very pretty little hamlet and for anyone who enjoys walking itâs a great place stay with loads of walks from the doorstep - weâd recommend the walk along the riverbank to Craven Arms - refreshments at Shepherd Hills cafe a must!! Overall we had a good time.
