About this property

This small, picturesque Pennine market town sits in a unique location. Popular with tourists and residents alike, with a vibrant arts scene, as well as festivals held throughout the year, there is something for everybody to enjoy. But very few properties boast a position like Avaelie Too, which is essential for the discerning traveller. Avaelie Too is located on a quiet street with no through traffic. At the end of the street is the River Hebden and a small packhorse bridge which leads to woodland and riverside walks. On arrival, park off-road on your own small drive by the front door, secure in the knowledge that the parking space is yours for the entire stay. Enter the house through the front door and step into the centrally-heated, inviting living room that houses a Smart TV with Netflix, and an electric fire perfect for those chilly evenings. There is a kitchen/diner, complete with a ceramic hob, dishwasher, washer, fridge /freezer, plus a kettle and toaster. All essential kitchen and dining equipment is provided for those wishing to self-cater, though many guests prefer to sample the many eateries that are within easy walking distance. There are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and a second with a double, both with ample storage and mirrors, whilst the bathroom comprises a bath with a shower over. At the front is a small south-facing garden and a driveway with picnic bench. When then weather permits it, enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine whilst you watch the world go by. At the rear, a small, private patio with picnic table and chairs is also available, where an extending washing line is on-hand, should it be needed. In Hebden Bridge, you will find St George’s Square, and beyond that, the 500-year-old Packhorse Bridge, which gives the town it’s name. Be sure to stop by the many independent shops, pubs, real ale bars, restaurants and street cafes in Hebden Bridge, or even the open-air market, which runs from Thursday to Sunday. A pleasant stroll along the canal is also a must when you’re in town, with the waterway formerly used for transport and now home to a fleet of picturesque barges. For a relaxing evening, book tickets to enjoy a performance at The Picture House or the Little Theatre. For walkers there is spectacular scenery in all directions, with many hidden gems to discover. The National Trust owned Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill are worth a visit, especially when the Blue Pig pub is open. A brief car trip will bring you to Halifax, which boasts the Grade I listed property of Georgian Piece along with an array of independent shops, the Eureka! The National Children's Museum, and the free-to-visit Dean Clough art gallery. Shibden Hall, the home of Anne Lister, the Bankfield museum, and Cliffe Castle are all must-see attractions whilst you’re in town. Further afield, short drive across The Moors will take you to Haworth, which offers visitors a chance to stop by the Brontë Parsonage Museum. Close by you also hop on board the Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Train Railway. For a relaxing home-from-home, choose a stay at Avaelie Too.

The Rochdale Canal and a charming Victorian train station are located in the charming tiny Pennine town of Hebden Bridge, which is located in the Calderdale region. There are many independently owned businesses there, including art galleries, cafes, bars, taverns, and restaurants. This charming site is also the first "Walkers are Welcome" town in the UK, a programme endorsed by the Ramblers' Association. It is in excellent walking country, with the National Trust-owned Hardcastle Crags and the Pennine Way nearby. Or, you can enjoy breathtaking drives and fantastic cycling right from your front door, as seen on the second stages of the 2014 Tour de France, 2015 Tour de Yorkshire, and 2018 Tour de Yorkshire. Go to Haworth to visit the magnificent Parsonage Museum, which honours the famed Bronte family's residence there. The Worth Valley Railway is a popular attraction in the area, and Halifax is home to the renowned Eureka Museum, which is renowned for its distinctive Piece Hall and Victorian architecture. The Dean Clough complex's beautiful architecture should also be observed; it's only seven miles distant. Both Holmfirth, famous for appearing in Last of the Summer Wine, and Skipton, known as the "Gateway to the Dales," are close by and offer beautiful drives.

The cottage is very comfortable and immaculately clean, with everything as described. A lot of care has gone into ensuring there is everything you might need. It's in a very peaceful and quiet setting with no noise whatsoever, even though we were such a short easy walk to the centre and shops. Everything worked well including free WIFI, and it was cosy and warm. One of the nicest and cleanest cottages we've ever stayed in. Convenient for lots of walking and tourist attractions. We left our car in the driveway to visit the Piece Hall, Minster and market in Halifax via the local trains which run every 20 minutes from the quaint Hebden Bridge Train Station (about 10 mins walk from the cottage). We also recommend Shibden Hall and Haworth. Natalie was so friendly and helpful via text, and she provided a lovely welcome pack, which was a godsend as we were tired from our journey. Thank you for a lovely holiday, we hope to visit again one day.

The house was well appointed, comfortable and (given the sometimes inclement weather) warm and with the inestimable benefit of parking on the drive yet being only 5 minutes walk from the cetnre of the town. The town itself is at the centre of many footpaths to explore the lovely Calderdale countryside (Heptonstall, Stoodley Pike and via the canal to the woodland above Mytholmrod) but aslo has a range of independent shops, cafés and restaurants with a market 4 days a week. we aslo went on a day rain was forecast, to Halifax by train and would recommend a visit -,especially the Piece Hall and the Minster. All in all, despite the rain, a great holiday property and location.

The property was exactly as described, and had everything you might need for a holiday. The property is a terraced house, but I heard absolutely nothing from the neighbours, and the street was very peaceful. Awaiting my arrival was an amazing welcome pack, which was much appreciated. I spoke to Natalie before I travelled to the property, and she was extremely helpful and answered ever query I had. Overall delighted with my stay and would look to return next time I'm in the area.
