We went to Dacre Lake on 1st November for a week. The log cabin was situated perfectly on the site for a family with 2 water crazy dogs, as we could see the lake but were directly next to it. So let's get the negatives out of the way: The door handle on the cabin needed fixing which we reported on the 1st morning of our holiday. Unfortunately it needed a new barrel and this needed to be ordered. However, this did not stop us using the door, so not a big negative, just at awkward trying not to make the situation worse (this door led to the hot tub, so had to be used). The shower in the ensuite did not drain very well and at times felt like the shower cubicle could overflow. Though it never did. The wall where the hand towel was hung was black with water marks and so could do with sanding and resealing. It just looked a little unkempt, but not majorly so. The hot tub lid was difficult to get off and on and needed 2 people. Now the positives and there are plenty. The log cabin was very clean and very welcoming. The company left washing up liquid, tablets for the dishwasher, a tea towel (I took my own so didn't use theirs), a couple of black bin bags (take your own you will need them), 2 bath and hand towels per person (there were 6 of us) and a dressing gown each (I took beach towels to use for the hot tub). There is a dishwasher, microwave and cooker with oven. Along with plenty of plates, cutlery, mugs and glasses, as well as plastic glasses for when you are in the hot tub. The hot tub was checked every day we were there except the Saturday and Sunday (I assume estates staff only work week days). The hot tub, although old, was very good and we enjoyed using it as it kept the heat very well. Lovely on a cool autumn night. The site is approximately just over 15 minutes to Hornsea, just over 20 minutes to Beverley, Driffield and Bridlington. Just over 30 minutes to Filey and 45 minutes to Scarborough. Onsite they have a new Crazy Golf and it is one of the best I have been on, we used it 3 times. There is also pitch and putt, but we didn't use this. There is a big field where the kids can play ball games, and there is kayaking/canoeing; however, this finished on the 31st October so disappointing we could participate as my boys would have loved this.As we went out of season it was very quiet, and half the price of booking for the summer. That said I would definitely book again and would highly recommend.
