Guests generally appreciate the Gannet cottage for its excellent location, cosy atmosphere, and thoughtful touches like doggy packs. While some minor issues with facilities and maintenance are noted, the property's cleanliness and comfort are praised, making it a desirable choice for a tranquil getaway in the scenic Flamborough area.
The property is consistently described as clean, with only a single mention of a shower cleanliness issue. The overall impression is that of a well-maintained cottage.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to local attractions, beaches, and wildlife, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
Comfort is generally well-regarded with positive remarks about the bed and heating. However, some guests found the lounge furniture low and suggested additional hooks for convenience.
Facilities are good overall, but several reviews mention issues such as sensitive smoke alarms, lack of dishwasher, and suggestions for minor improvements. Maintenance concerns like a blocked shower drain and a loose toilet seat are noted.
Thoughtful touches like welcome baskets for both humans and dogs are mentioned positively, indicating a considerate approach to guest comfort. However, it is politely noted that such gifts are subject to availability and not guaranteed.

The pretty village of Flamborough occupies a superb setting, perched on a picturesque peninsula on the East Coast of Yorkshire, 4 miles from Bridlington. Housing traditional fishermen's cottages and a small selection of welcoming pubs and restaurants, Flamborough also has much to offer the rambler, historian and birdwatcher. There are spectacular cliffs, which form an eight mile stretch of Heritage coastline, and at Flamborough Head, stand two historic lighthouses, one of which is the oldest one in Britain, built in 1674. To the north of the village, the magnificent 400 feet high cliffs are home to one of the largest colonies of nesting sea birds in England. Discover the puffins at Bempton, follow the fascinating natural trails at South Landing and the wooded ravine at Danes Dyke, or explore the smugglers’ caves at North Landing. Enjoy a spot of fishing or a boat trip to explore the sea caves. Flamborough Head is a wonderful place for anyone who enjoys beautiful coastal scenery and bracing sea air.

It was very warm and cosy, it accepted 3 dogs and provided bowls, covers and bedding, and treats! However there were a few glitches. The key code we were given in all communications before the day we arrived was wrong and we could not get in until we'd negotiated contact with the managers. An email correcting the number had been sent that afternoon, but arrived just before we did, having driven for 3 hours, so we didn't see it until later. There was no tea towel or oven glove but we found one in the laundry room. There was nowhere to hang towels or clothes in the shower room (this could be remedied with a couple of cheap 'over the door' hooks and a radiator rack). There was no enclosed garden (we knew this) but the patio area was actually the gravel drive outside all the cottages where cars were coming and going (and on the morning we left, where the biomass delivery lorry was parked from 8am until 10am - the driver apologized for the noise and blocking access but it was difficult to load the car and very noisy for the other people who weren't leaving with that timing.) We only found the actual open garden where dogs can be walked the second day - it is tucked away behind hedges - a sign or two indicating where it is would help. There was no visitor book - these are helpful for things like knowing to switch the router off and on again when the internet fails if other people experience this, and getting to the garden area, as well as other handy bits of information about the area.

Well equipped and spotlessly clean with everything we needed. The location is brilliant for visiting the local attractions and beautiful beaches. Will definitely be back xx

Lovely to have our little dog thought of with the welcome pack. Had a tranquil stay until the last night when someone parked outside our unit who must have been staying in the farm house. Lovely to see some flowers in a planter outside the cottage. Would be great to have a visitors book in the cottage to get tips and hints of where to visit/eat.
