About this property

Located in the village of Buckton, a stone's throw away from the coastal path and RSPB bird reserve at Bempton, is this charming double-fronted holiday home, Holly Farm Cottage. Set across two floors and sleeping up to six guests, Holly Farm Cottage makes an idyllic base for a family or group of friends looking to explore the delights of Yorkshire, enjoying close proximity with easy access to the glorious golden sands of Bridlington, the coves of Flamborough, and the beaches of Filey, with Scarborough just a little further along the coast. At the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, Holly Farm Cottage provides access to numerous walks and cycle rides around the pretty Wolds villages enroute to the historic market towns of Driffield and Beverley. Walks and cycle routes around the Flamborough Heritage Headland provide breathtaking views from the 400ft high cliffs. Catch a glimpse of the famous puffins and other birds as you explore the headland, you may be lucky and see dolphins, seals and whales. Explore the coves and find the caves or even go fossil hunting at Speeton. The nearby Bempton train station facilitates travel to Filey, Hunmanby, Bridlington, Driffield, Beverley and Scarborough without the need for a car. On arrival you can unload at the front door before driving to the rear of the property to park on the two private off-road parking spaces, making loading and unloading an easy task. Entering the front door there is a central hallway leading through to the light and airy lounge, where you can look forward to putting your feet up and relaxing in front of the crackling woodburning stove before making your way through to the open-plan kitchen diner.

Make use of the range of fantastic facilities provided in the well-equipped kitchen, housing an electric oven, gas hob and microwave, as well as a handy dishwasher to assist with the cleaning, and serve your family or friends at the nearby dining table, with ample seating for six. In the warmer months, make mealtimes an alfresco affair with a peaceful seat amongst the greenery of the rear garden; a lovely spot to soak in the last of the evening sun with your favourite tipple following a day of adventure.

As day turns to night, climb the stairs to the first floor and prepare for bed with a luxurious soak in the family bathroom, stylishly adorned with marble tiles, or if you'd prefer, make use of the overhead shower to wash away the day. When your eyes grow heavy, you're spoilt for choice between three well-presented bedrooms, one kingsize with the added benefit of it's own en-suite, one double and a twin (which can be converted to a superking), each offering a smart television so you can drift off to the sound of your favourite movie. Take a break from doing the cooking and wander into the heart of the village to treat your loved ones to a delicious meal at the local village pub, The White Horse Inn, and if you time it right, you might even catch a spot of live music. Jump in the car and take the scenic drive to the nearby town of Bridlington where you'll find a wide variety of amenities; here you can watch the waves crash on the shore, indulge in fresh Bridlington Bay crab or lobster or pick up some ingredients from the many well-stocked stores and supermarkets to prepare a delicious meal from the comfort of your holiday home. With miles of glorious golden sand decorating the coastline, you're in the perfect place for a beach day, so be sure to pack your bucket and spade and head to one of the many beaches in the area such as Reighton Gap, Hunmanby gap, Bridlington and Fraisthorpe where you can look forward to paddling the shores, basking in the sun and sand, or building sandcastles with the little ones. Whilst you are in the area be sure to visit the nearby Sewerby Hall and Gardens. Situated in a dramatic clifftop position with views over Bridlington, with its own Zoo, magnificent gardens and playground often hosting events. Catch the popular land train into Bridlington, something for everyone. Visit the nearby unspoilt seaside town of Filey, where you can challenge the children to a game of pitch & putt, visit Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park or just watch the traditional fishing cobles being launched. A little further along the coast is the popular seaside resort of Scarborough, where you can make a splash at the indoor waterpark, explore the ancient ruins of Scarborough Castle as it rises above the North Sea from it's position on a rocky promontory, or discover the archaeological history with a tour of Rotunda Museum. Escape to the coast with a stay at Holly Farm Cottage.

Nestled between Filey and Flamborough, on the East Coast of Yorkshire, rests this charming pint-sized villages of Buckton and Bempton. Decorated with traditional cottages and home to a local shop and a traditional country pub, the twin villages offer all of the essential amenities. The owners attention to detail was fantastic and they went the extra mile with safety features and the welcome gifts. Couldn’t fault it.

  • Emma

Communication was excellent, the property was as described and it was a great location to get to all local tourist spots. Parking was a big bonus, as was the quiet area closeness to the train station. We appreciated the well provisioned kitchen, welcome gifts, supply of tea/coffee, comfortable beds and powerful waterfall shower in the large ensuite. The hosts were friendly, helpful and clearly care about the guests comfort and experience.

This combined with the excellent location made it an ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast. Communications from the owners from booking to arrival was excellent.
