Guests say

Guests consistently praise the spaciousness, cleanliness, and well-kept garden of the Alcuin cottage. The property is appreciated for its generous welcome pack, ample parking, and its proximity to local amenities and the beach. While some decor is noted as retro, the house is equipped with modern conveniences, and the owners are commended for their responsiveness and hospitality.

Reviewers frequently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as very clean and well-maintained, which indicates a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.

The property's location is generally well-regarded, with guests appreciating its quiet setting, proximity to the beach, local shops, and attractions, although a few noted the beach is a 25-minute walk.

Comfort is highlighted with mentions of comfortable beds and furnishings. Some guests, however, had personal preferences regarding mattress firmness and bed size, slightly affecting the score.

Facilities are well-received, with special mentions of the well-equipped kitchen and large garden. Points were deducted for comments on the need for more plug sockets, soft-close kitchen cupboards, and the dining area's size.

The thoughtfulness of the owners is evident from the welcome pack and other provisions left for guests. While these gifts are highly appreciated, it's important to note that such offerings are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

It was our 2nd time here so we knew what we was going to. This time we asked our family to join us. Very comfortable and clean. The provision of towels was good and beds were made up for us. We do find the lack of plug sockets can be a slight problem especially when trying to use hairdryer as there are no sockets near a mirror. We took an extension lead with us. Contact with the owner was excellent and the provisions left were excellent. The dairy free cakes and milk was good as grandaughter is dairy free and loved that she had treats to eat x

The house is very spacious, warm and a little quirky and dated. It had everything we needed: lots of fridge/freezer space, kitchen equipment etc. As in previous reviews, the double beds were rather small being used to a king sized beds. The rear garden was enormous and great for the children. Large driveway, so easy and spacious parking. Sea front walkable in 30 minutes, drivable in 5. Whiteheads fish and chips (excellent) just half a mile away as is a large Tesco. A most pleasant and enjoyable stay.
