Private parking for 3 cars. No smoking.. This spacious, gated property is accessed by a sweeping brick set driveway. The property is a beautiful, detached, dorma bungalow, superbly furnished with a luxurious feel. The master bedroom and en-suite are on the ground floor with tasteful decor and plenty of storage. The en-suite features a walk-in shower, large bath for a relaxing soak, twin vanity basins and toilet. The very well-equipped kitchen and dining area features stylish units and a granite topped centre island. The kitchen opens through to a lovely bright sunlounge with quality comfortable chairs and sofa and a dining table for 6. This room gives access to the beautiful, decked patio with luxury garden furniture and views to the front and rear gardens where you can sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The living room with a 50” Smart TV and views of the back garden can also be accessed off the sun-lounge or hall. All of the spacious bedrooms are tastefully decorated with an abundance of storage and offer views of the gardens and countryside from the rear rooms.
The 6-person private hot tub is enclosed in an open fronted summerhouse in the very large back garden so no matter what the weather you can enjoy the bubbles under the twinkling fairy lights. A small bar area, bar stools and comfortable chairs are also provided if you do not wish to take a dip but would like to watch the sun set. A decked area and seating for the early morning sun is located at the rear of the property with the main decked patio on the side of the property to get the last of the evening sun.
Close to the property in the village of Ottringham is a pub, Indian restaurant/takeaway, a post office/convenience store and a children’s park with zip line. The costal resort of Withernsea, and miles of sandy beaches, is a 15-minute drive away with Hornsea and Bridlington easily accessible. In the surrounding area of Holderness you will find both rural countryside and spectacular bird colonies. The unique Spurn Point Nature Reserve and visitor centre and Hornsea Mere are not to be missed. There are stately homes at Burton Constable and Burton Agnes or visit the medieval town of Beverley with its 13th century Minster and renowned racecourse.
Hull, the 2017 city of culture, is 25 minutes away and home to the spectacular Deep Aquarium or visit the free museum quarter where you will find the Street-life museum and William Wilberforce House. Take a stroll over the magnificent Humber Bridge which is still one of the largest single span suspension bridges in the world. Another graet place to visit is the city of York and it’s many attractions makes a great day out for all the family. This property offers a superb base for exploring this area of East Yorksire.

Wow, what a gem of a place this is. The photos are great, but you have to be there to fully appreciate how splendid it actually is.Alison and Dave are wonderful hosts, knowledgeable and on hand if needed, but otherwise respect your privacy. As soon as Alison became aware that my Mum was recovering from an operation, she thoughtfully provided a stool for the shower, which was really appreciated.There is everything you could possibly need and more. Plenty of storage space, hangers and extra touches like umbrellas and walking poles etc. The welcome pack was wonderful, you don't see many to that standard these days.The house and grounds are nothing short of spectacular... All rooms are very generously proportioned, and the garden is huge. A big space where you can get together as a family, but also plenty of areas to spread out if craving a bit of quiet headspace. The summerhouse and hot tub are a big bonus, it was lovely to sit out there enjoying the peace and a slower pace of life for a while.If, like for us, night skies are your thing... there was little in the way of light pollution, so we had some stunning views of the stars from the back garden.Thanks Alison and Dave fire a fantastic stay, just what we all needed. We hope to return one day soon. Sorry it has taken a couple of weeks to do this review.One last thing, if you book to go, make sure you read about the history when you get there, I won't give any spoilers but it was great to read.

Lovely house!! So spacious and comfortable. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. The only down side we found was it wasn't as clean as the previous reviews said, there was alot of dust on ledges around the house and on the bathroom shelves. Also alot of spider webs, I understand these can be made very quickly but there was alot all over the house. The hot tub area could have down with a clean too, the window next to the hot tub has definitely not been cleaned in a while, neither have the glasses. There is alot of ornaments in the home but these seem to be over looked when cleaning too. Despite the cleanliness issues, we all had a really good week and would recommend The Hawthorns to anyone who wants a nice relaxing break at a lovely home from home.

An excellent place to stay, we really enjoyed our break here. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful, and there was a wonderful welcome basket, with milk and Prosecco in the fridge, all of which was much appreciated. Everything has been thought of and the cottage is very well equipped and clean. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are large with plenty of storage space. The kitchen equipment etc is easy to use but instructions are provided. One of our party has mobility issues but could manoeuvre round downstairs well enough, although there are steps into the property.We visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Beverley Minster, Burton Constable House, The Deep, Withernsea, and Ferens Art Gallery, but there were plenty of places around to visit.Highly recommend a stay here.
