An outstanding stone barn conversion, in the small hamlet of Tatham on the rural outskirts of Bentham, 8 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. Lovingly converted and set in the grounds of the owner's farmhouse, this delightful property sits between the dairy and the farmhouse and boasts exposed beams, underfloor heating, three bathrooms and fabulous countryside views with the magnificent Three Peaks dominating the skyline. With great walking, cycling and wildlife spotting available from the doorstep, this is the perfect home from home. A range of local towns with great amenities are nearby, such as Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle and Ingleton, whilst the Cumbrian town of Kendal is within easy reach. An ideal base for a relaxing holiday!
High above the traditional Yorkshire market town of Bentham, the tiny hamlet of Tatham sits on the edge of Burnmoor overlooking The Great Stone of Fourstones - an Ice Age relic which marks the boundary between Lancashire and Yorkshire. This ancient monument has become a distinctive feature of the landscape boasting spectacular views over the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forest of Bowland - a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Excellent walking and cycling routes cross all three of these stunning areas, whilst nearby Bentham boasts a range of amenities and a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. The underfloor heating is lovely in the morning whilst having breakfast. Fiona is a lovely friendly person to talk too if you require anything during your stay. Stunning views across the Moors, with sheep and cows in the fields close by, and next to the Barn Cottage, Chickens, rabbits, squirrels, with an added bonus of three wallabies. It is an ideal location for walkers and cyclists who wish to discover the area with so many places of interest close by. PLEASE study the directions given, as your Sat Nav will try and take you down tiny single track roads from WRAY. Directions given through Higher Bentham are simple, straight foreward and direct.

Without doubt the best place we have stayed at in recent years. The barn was so beautiful and so well thought out in terms of furnishings and had everything you could ever need. I would not hesitate to recommend. Top marks!

Fantastic views outside, (cows, sheep, chickens and wallabies as neighbours!) comfy and plenty of space indoors, very well equipped. Walks straight from door. (If you want to be in the hub of things - this is not for you- need a car to get to shops and pubs - it was perfect for us). Situated well for visiting the lakes or dales and forest of bowland. Owners friendly and helpful. We loved our time at Usherwoods Barn and would definitely rebook and definitely recommend to anyone who wants to escape to peace and quiet.
