Masongill Lodge is consistently praised for its beautiful setting, cleanliness, and comfort. Guests have enjoyed the property's charm, cosy atmosphere, and well-equipped facilities. The surrounding countryside and garden are frequently mentioned as highlights, contributing to a peaceful and restorative stay. The housekeeper's efforts are appreciated, adding to the welcoming experience. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
Guests frequently commend the property for its immaculate condition and cleanliness. The housekeeper is often mentioned for their helpfulness, ensuring a tidy and well-maintained environment. Only one comment suggests checking the information folder for updates, which does not significantly impact the overall high standard of cleanliness.
The lodge's location is celebrated for its tranquillity and easy access to the countryside, with guests appreciating the quiet setting and proximity to walking areas. The scenic beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District enhances the appeal. A few guests noted the property is off the beaten track, which is seen as a positive aspect.
Comfort is a strong point for Masongill Lodge, with guests finding the property cosy and relaxing. The beds are comfortable, and there is ample space for guests to spread out. However, a couple of reviews mention ineffective heating in some bedrooms and the main bathroom needing an update, which slightly lowers the score.
The lodge is well-equipped, with guests particularly liking the kitchen and the presence of log burning stoves. Some guests mention the property is beginning to look tired and suggest updates to the main bathroom and twin bedroom beds. The mention of a for sale notice suggests potential changes in the future.
While the reviews reflect a positive experience, there is no specific mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score for this category.
Masongill Lodge is a splendid, Grade II listed two-storey property, built in 1709 and situated just within the western boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park on the border with Lancashire and Cumbria, a stone's through from the pretty village of Ingleton and sort after market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
The cottage sits within its own grounds in the small hamlet of Masongill, a dozen houses along half a mile of single track, no-through road which leads directly onto the fells over looking Inglebrough, one of North Yorkshires Three Peaks.
As you enter through the original porch, you are transported into a stylish drawing room where you can relax after a busy day exploring the Dales. A wood burning stove will keep you warm and cosy whatever the weather. Make culinary memories using delicious local Yorkshire produce in the stunning kitchen with its four-oven Aga and french doors opening out onto the garden where alfresco dining can be enjoyed around the comfortable outside furniture seating eight guests.
The first floor offers four delightful bedrooms, two with their very own en-suite bath or shower room and further family bathroom, all of which boast countryside views through the historic mullion windows.
From the well tended plantsman's garden and two paddocks there are beautiful views to the west as far as the Irish sea, and to the east to the summit of Ingleborough. Masongill Lodge is in an ideal location for an outdoor break with plenty of scenic walking and cycling directly from the front door of the property. Guests of Masongill Lodge will be spoilt for choice when it come to dining out, whether it be a light lunch at The Falls Bar and Kitchen or an evening meal at the Marton Arms, just 5 minutes drive away.

Arrived at Masongill Lodge to a home so warm and welcoming with a basket full of essentials and treats. A beautifully appointed house and pretty garden ( the gardener keeps it all in perfect order). We enjoyed a week with extended family in glorious weather, allowing for stunning walks in the Yorkshire Dales. The traditional stone farmhouse is set in a peaceful hamlet and we enjoyed alfresco dining & beautiful sunsets on the garden terrace. Would love to return one day but have all left with fabulous memories.
