About this property

A stone-built, semi-detached cottage in the heart of Burnsall in Wharfedale, one of the prettiest of the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage is in a superb location overlooking the village green and the beautiful River Wharfe, with uninterrupted views to the rear across fields which rise to Burnsall Fell - and it’s also just a short hop to the renowned village pub! This spacious cottage, close to the Dales Way, is in a walking paradise and is ideal for those looking to get away from it all and enjoy a taste of country living. The cottage has a spacious sitting room with open fire and old beams, an ideal place to relax after a hard day out on the local fells. A spacious kitchen diner provides a great place for everyone to get together and prepare a sumptuous meal, assuming the gastronomic delights of the local Red Lion have not won the day. Upstairs, there are three flexible bedrooms served by a stylish bathroom and there is a useful shower room on the ground floor. Outside, the lovely front and rear garden provide the perfect place for an evening barbecue or to simply sit out and watch village life unfold. The local walks along the river banking are superb, and there are countless fell walking and cycling opportunities from the doorstep. Explore Bolton Abbey and the infamous Strid, a notorious stretch of deep water where the River Wharfe is forced into a deep, thundering channel. The elegant village of Grassington, with its cobbled square littered with shops, pubs and cafes, is just 4 miles away, whilst the many amenities of Skipton are just a short drive. The more energetic can take a quick jaunt over the moor to nearby Embsay and its famous steam railway line. A great place for family and friends to enjoy that well-deserved break in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales!

Situated in Wharfedale, the village of Burnsall is set on a bend in the River Wharfe and is framed by the dramatic backdrop of Burnsall Fell. The 12th Century church is considered to be the oldest construction in the village whilst the school is thought to be one of the oldest in Britain. The traditional Dales bridge with its five stone arches is another interesting feature of the settlement and is one of the town's most renowned landmarks. The surrounding countryside features a number of walks through the area, making it a wonderful place to stay whilst exploring the Dales. Local amenities include a small shop selling sweets and ice-cream as well as various essential goods, a pub with hotel, and a tea-room. Nearby Grassington and Skipton offer a wider range of amenities and Burnsall's river 'beach' is just a few minutes walk away.
