Please note: There are 2 steps in the garden.. This charming end of terrace property is only a short walk from the main high street. Ash Grove makes an excellent base to explore the wonderful Yorkshire Dales National Park, York and the southern Lake District National Park. Hidden up a narrow cobbled lane, this cottage offers visitors the opportunity to come together and enjoy this vibrant Dales town in comfort. Entering into the property from the cobbled lane you are met with a large contemporary kitchen offering the best quality accessories. With its vaulted ceiling and slate floor, which runs through into the dining room, the chef in the family will be more than happy to spend time cooking for family and friends, and the large dining room is just perfect to sit and enjoy those home cooked meals. The cosy living room is flooded with natural light from a large bay window. With sumptuous sofas and a traditional wood burner, this room really sets the scene for a cosy night in.
Wander upstairs where there is a selection of bedrooms. The large modern house bathroom can also be found on the first floor and features a shower over the bath. This charming cottage offers a third bedroom tucked away on the second floor and again offers kingsize accommodation, with the Velux windows offer lovely views and the low ceiling provides a romantic ambiance. All rooms are decorated to a high standard and compliment the property well. Outside there is a small courtyard at the rear offering a lovely little area to enjoy al fresco dining or just to sit and plan the days activities and to the front of the property is a small enclosed garden. As with many Yorkshire terraces Ash Grove shares a larger enclosed garden with the rest of the row and is a great place for the children in the family to meet with local children and enjoy a game of rounders or a quick kick around.
The market town of Skipton has so much to offer visitors from a great selection of shops and restaurants to the ancient castle which is open daily. The market sits on the cobbled area either side of the main thoroughfare the Aireville Park with its swimming pool and fitness centre is worth a visit. Skipton is famous for the canal with runs through the town. Why not sit outside one of the many cafés and tea rooms and watch the canal boats meander on through or enjoy an evening stroll along the canal side. You can even book a day’s boat ride and enjoy the stunning Yorkshire Dales countryside from the water. The west coast town of Morecambe is also within easy driving distance. Whether you are planning on hiking, walking, cycling or just relaxing, this cottage is a relaxing home away from home for the whole family. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 600 yards.

Check-in was easy. The house was spacious but didn’t feel cosy. The kitchen cupboards and drawers had lots of DIY equipment and junk in. There were lots of huge impractical dishes and pots that were unlikely to get used unless you planned to cook Christmas dinner for 10, but every day essentials were either lacking or old and in need of replacement. The chopping boards were old, and in one case, recently stained. There was no welcome pack provided which is usually typical of other properties in the area in which I’ve stayed. The furniture was a strange mixture of old and ikea styles. The dining room featured hard plastic chairs and a melamine dining room table which was a bit naff. The smart tv was quite small and it was unable to stream Netflix accounts that had adverts. The level of cleaning needs attention. There was an old contact lens (not ours), dead insects and cobwebs on the stairs. The beds were comfortable and the linen was nice but again some of the furniture in the bedrooms was cheap. We called the local office to enquire about a slightly later check out but the lady who answered was not willing to even look into if it was possible. The whole stay seemed a little impersonal. I wouldn’t stay again as there are lots of other better equipped, cleaner and cosier cottages in Skipton with more welcoming hosts at a much cheaper price.

We have stayed in quite a few places in the area and note there are some criticisms by other reviewers of this place. Yes some are definitely valid but there is no such thing as a perfect place. We suspect there is limited time between stays to fix improve things and some things look a bit rushed but the property does represent excellent value for money. I won't go on about shortcomings here (apart from the verging on criminal lack of pint glasses) as I suspect the owner already has a plan in place. I would like to say though that we enjoyed a great value relaxing stay and (apart from the pint glasses) had everything we needed. Also the owner seemed quite laid back as there was not a load of instructions to remember / comply with and someone else even put the bins out. I would have liked slightly more info on what goes in what bin as stuff does vary from area to area. All the people around the area we spoke to were also really friendly too. Would I recommend the place or go again? Well probably. See whether it fits your needs. It worked well for us and we preferred it to quite a few of the others we saw online. Thanks for a great stay. The end cottage of a delightful terrace, comfortable and well equipped and a short walk down to the friendly and bustling market town.The visitors log book lists various repeated issues which no one seems to deal with (television, front door lock,blocked plugholes,lack of instructions to make heated towel rail function....) but we had a problem with the front door lock and the central heating control (flat batteries!) both of which were quickly and cheerfully resolved.We'd happily return but please make sure that someone reads and acts on the comments.
