About this property

A beautiful Victorian house tucked away into the village of Long Preston, a picturesque location with countryside and rolling hills. Tastefully designed for families or a group of friends, this spacious retreat is an exquisite choice for a memorable holiday experience, even featuring its very own hot tub. A vestibule leads you inside, where you will be welcomed by a wonderful hallway, dividing off to a series of rooms. The kitchen is a comfortable place to unwind, housing a wall-mounted TV, and a cosy window seat where you can rest whilst waiting for those home-cooked meals to heat up. You will look forward to settling down in the lounge afterwards, perfect for dining with the whole family, and snuggling up on the sumptuous sofas with the French doors open. The first set of stairs sweeps up to a family shower room, with three bedrooms situated on the second floor, two with en-suite and another with a dedicated bathroom on the landing. As well as a lovely view over the garden towards the Dales, all rooms are glamorously presented, with a true feeling of luxury and ample storage space. Leaving you spoilt for choice once more, the third floor is equally as elegant, with two further bedrooms; the first is elevated by open eaves, velux windows, and a chandelier, whilst the second comes as a twin formation with a zip/link option. The exterior represents the cottages charm wholeheartedly; home to a large patio area with furniture and a lawned garden for an idyllic finish. To the North, the landscape rises to the fells, moors and valleys of the Dales and to the South are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley which, in turn, sweep upward to the wilderness of Bowland. The village benefits from several large, tree lined, village greens, with footpaths leading direct to the surrounding hills, and two excellent pubs with first class cuisine. An impressive cottage in a fabulous location.

The house is large enough for big groups without feeling on top of each other and the outdoor terrace and garden were perfect for our needs. Good location for exploring Skipton and Settle, nice pub a short walk away, and lots of parking at the house. However, the house in general could do with some TLC and a deep clean is definitely needed. The foisty smell hits as soon as you walk in. Lots of cobwebs, dust, paint and wallpaper chipped and marked etc. As many other reviews have said, the water pressure is not good (the toilets struggle to flush even toilet roll). The kitchen is ok - the oven took a long time to cook food and the provided pans and trays were old and definitely not non stick! Would recommend taking your own tea towels as only two were provided and they stunk! You’re asked to clean the oven, fridge, strip the beds and leave in separate piles with towels- bit much for a 10am check out. Never been told to do this at other stays. On the day of check out the cleaner arrived at 8.30 to clean the hot tub, the owner then arrived at 9am to ‘drop off supplies’. We’d read in other reviews that the cleaners turned up at 9.45 and let themselves in so we left before this. It is NOT acceptable for people to be entering before check out. Found the bond system strange- basically have to send £100 and it’s up to the owner if they send it back or not. Other reviews have had issues but ours was returned the next day after prompting. Over all had a great time, not sure we would recommend to friends due to issues above.
