Set near the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and boasting a host of original features, this characterful property is the perfect base for a family getaway or a gathering of friends. Step into Pentre Hall, to be instantly impressed by the spacious kitchen/diner, an idyllic spot for all your culinary creations, which can be enjoyed in the dining room, complete with woodburning stove. Afterwards, curl up in the sitting room with a cold glass of wine or good book, in front of the roaring woodburning stove; or on warmer evenings, why not step outside to the enclosed private garden with gas fired BBQ where you can dine alfresco before indulging a long soak in the wood-fired hot tub? You can also find a splendid snug on the second floor, perfect for keeping the little ones entertained with plush seating and a large smart TV. When sleep calls, travel up the stairs and find three luxurious king-size bedrooms (2 with four posters), followed by a second-floor double with en-suite and a twin with en-suite, both with walk-in showers. To the first floor, you’ll find a bright and airy bathroom, perfect for winding down or freshening up before hunkering down for the evening. Explore the nearby town of Oswestry, with its mix of independent shops, eateries, pubs, and even a castle. Or take a drive to Chester, the largest and most developed city in Cheshire, where you can marvel at the incredible Chester Cathedral, visit the Roman walls, and the historic Roman Amphitheatre. Of course, there’s always time for a slice of culture too; Chester Racecourse holds an array of events, from music concerts to the summer races and Shrewsbury with it’s contemporary, riverside theatre staging musicals, drama and live concerts. Wherever you choose to explore, a stay at Pentre Hall will provide a truly special holiday.

The scattered village of Bronygarth is situated in the Ceiriog Valley and lies on the Offa's Dyke Path, the boundary between England and Wales. Just across the River Ceiriog is the magnificent 14th century Marcher Fortress of Chirk Castle with its award-winning gardens, medieval tower and dungeon. The small border town of Chirk is referred to as "The Gateway to Wales" and offers pubs, restaurants, a village store, gift shop, canal boat marina and an excellent golf course. Ceiriog Valley, known as ' The Valley of Poets' and described by Lloyd George as "a little bit of heaven on earth" offers walks, cycle routes and local trout fishing. The ancient border town of Oswestry boasts restaurants, numerous shops, historic buildings and traditional pubs as well as its well preserved hill top Iron Age fort from where long distant views can be enjoyed. Many historic houses and castles can be visited nearby including Powis Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park. Only five miles from charming Llangollen, with its stream railway, watersports, famous Eisteddfod, Castell Dinas Bran, Valle Crucis Abbey and scenic Horseshoe Pass. Also five miles is the market town of Oswestry with its iron age hillfort, and within easy reach is the Roman walled city of Chester with its famous zoo and the medieval town of Shrewsbury, both only half an hour by train or car from Chirk. The nine meres of Ellesmere are close by and provide scenic walks, sailing, fishing and boat trips, an abundance of wildlife and great birdwatching opportunities. Further afield are the Welsh Mountains and coast, Lakes Bala and Vyrnwy, medieval Shrewsbury, the Roman walled city of Chester and the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge. It was extremely comfortable, very well appointed and the owner James was very welcoming and helpful. We followed their advice about booking a pub for Sunday Lunch and had an excellent meal at The Docks at Selattyn too. Can’t fault this one in any way! Thank you so much.

On arrival we were made to feel welcome by Helen. A hamper of goodies awaited us and every small detail was catered for. Hot tub was ready for use, towels were provided along with doggy towels, tissues in every room, torches in case of a power cut and ample toilet rolls and hand soap. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We loved learning about the history of the house and the area and we highly recommend this property and would definitely book again. Thank you James and Helen for letting us use your beautiful home.

We had a wonderful family weekend at Pentre Hall, it was a perfect base for our time in Shropshire. Beautiful setting, intriguing and handsome historic house with all modern facilities. Everything we could have wished for including a generous welcome pack. James was incredibly informative and helpful both before and during our stay. His local knowledge certainly enhanced our visit. Have already recommended Pentre Hall to family and friends.
