About this property

Bay Horse Farm is a Grade II Listed semi-detached farmhouse, formerly an old coaching inn, situated on the edge of Skipton in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Boasting a character interior with stunning countryside views and an abundance of animals on-site, this welcoming farmhouse is the perfect base for a get together with friends and family. Venture up the wooden stairs to the first-floor, home to four neatly presented bedrooms, three of which benefit from en-suite facilities. Up another small flight of stairs leads to the mezzanine twin, built into the eaves of the roof and ideal room for children. Start the morning with a rinse in the bathroom before heading outside and getting some morning sunshine from the garden. Meet the adorable residents of the paddocks that are attached to the property, including a two Alpacas and George the Donkey. For a day of exploration, take a trip to the North York Moors and discover an array of outdoor activities, from hiking to cycling and horse riding, as well as the coastal towns of Scarborough and Whitby further afield. Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!

It was my 50th and the perfect setting for my celebrations. The house is so homely and comfortable, has so much character and has been finished with impeccable taste. Plenty of fuel for the wonderful stoves, a fab Aga to cook on and everything you could need. Great walks nearby and Skipton only 2 miles away. Owners Nancy & Brendan are lovely, as are their menagerie of animals and the Fent Shop is amazing too!

A comfortable living room with open fire is very cosy on a wintry January night. There's plenty of space and everything you need. In a morning and evening the kids loved watching the llamas and donkey move from stable to field and back, right next to the kitchen window. The location is great for exploring skipton and the surrounding area and there are some great pubs with food only a few minutes drive away. The only downside we experienced was one of the bedrooms was a bit colder than we'd of liked and we couldn't get the temperature up in that bedroom. It was a cold January weekend. The rest of the house was warm.

Leak from the shower and bath in one of the bedrooms above the kitchen, water was pouring through one of the lights in the kitchen
