The town is traversed by Pennine cycle and bridleways, and the magnificent summit section of the Leeds & Liverpool canal meanders through the town and its bustling marina.

My only criticism is the access from the busy main road and the ability to see the access. One of our party arrived in the dark and had to be guided to the entrance by phone torch of another. Not ideal.

We were 4couples stopping at Castleys we all enjoyed en-suites bedrooms it was lovely clean and modern property some lovely sun traps to sit with a drink and take in beautiful countryside views if needed John the owner was handy with advice places to eat or visit we liked the local pub the Punch Bowl meals were lovely and the staff charming such a pleasant place to stay will come back again

It far exceeded all of our expectations and Sandra and John made us feel so welcome and couldnât do enough for us, we felt we had known them for years. Our whole holiday was outstanding although if I could keep it a secret I would to ensure getting it again and again. A wonderful experience Thank you
