Guests say

Dales Retreat is a centrally located cottage in Skipton, appreciated for its peacefulness despite its proximity to amenities. Guests have found it to be a comfortable and spacious property with a welcoming touch, though some have noted areas needing improvement.

The property generally maintains good cleanliness, but there have been isolated instances of cleaning issues, such as finding chewing gum and dead moths, which suggest room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for being central, quiet, and convenient, with easy access to local shops, pubs, and the high street.

The property is considered comfortable by most guests, with adequate space for families. However, some guests reported issues with thin pillows and inadequate blinds affecting their comfort.

While the property is well laid out and has comfy beds, guests have reported a lack of kitchen equipment, small pans, and maintenance issues like leaks and loose fixtures that need addressing.

The welcome basket is mentioned positively by some guests, but as it is not consistently provided, it cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, the score is set to null due to insufficient information on consistent thoughtfulness.

The house is in a great location. No parking, but was easy and cheap to park on the town's car parks for the week. The cottage could be a perfect base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and despite many issues we did enjoy our stay. It had been well decorated but needs some renovating to be classed as 'luxury' as per the listing. There are many cracks, the obvious results of a bathroom leak, many broken upstairs floorboards and bits of internal door frames missing. The upstairs blinds are not adequate - far too thin and blocked out zero light so we woke very early. The shower was also stuck on scalding hot.The kitchen is well equipped and there is a washing machine, drying rack and iron which was welcome! Unfortunately the cleanliness of the property was not up to scratch with many cobwebs and floors not cleaned properly - dust and spills remained from previous visitors and upstairs carpets had not been hoovered well. We were left with one clean towel and one that smelled very damp so I washed before use. No towels were left for the other 4 beds. No welcome pack other than some dishwasher tablets. Absolutely not a problem, but don't add to the listing if it won't be fulfilled. A new bed had been delivered in one room on our day of arrival which we were aware of, but it had not been made and bedding was left dumped in a pile on the floor. No attempt to clean the room appeared to have been made.We did enjoy our stay as it is a great space and in a brilliant location with lots to do close by! But we would not return based on the level of cleanliness and lack of care for preparing the cottage for new visitors.

I enjoyed my time here and would have given it 5 stars if not for the following. The cottage was still being cleaned when we arrived at our check-in time of 4pm.The down stairs toilet seat was completely broken so unless your male your not going to use it.There were quite a few things needing repair if the cottage was to live up to its luxury title. The welcome pack was some dish washer tablets not what we expected from the cottage photos.

We really enjoyed our stay at Skipton, we found that the house was well located and made it quite easy for us to explore town. The house is quite spacious, and everything was very clean! We found it generally quite comfortable, except for the fact that it was quite cold (after mesaging them about it, we never really got a response on whether we could control the heating ourselves)
