About this property

Laurel Bank Cottage is situated on the fringes of the rural village of Embsay and offers lovely views over fields towards Embsay Crag. The cottage is a stone-built addition to the owners' splendid Victorian property and shares its extensive mature gardens and grounds. The accommodation is spacious, well equipped and comfortable, and makes an ideal retreat for a large group of family or friends at any time of the year. All the amenities of the market town of Skipton are close by and the popular Wharfedale villages of Bolton Abbey, Burnsall and Grassington are within easy reach.

With a stone circle dating back to the Bronze Age, this quiet Dales village is of ancient origin. Originally the site of a monastic settlement in the 12th century, the village of Embsay is now a popular destination amongst walkers and railway enthusiasts. The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway runs through the beautiful surrounding countryside and boasts award-winning authentic station buildings and steam trains. At the centre of the village is the Old Mill, home to a needlecraft centre and coffee shop whilst the lively, bustling market town of Skipton is close at hand to provide any extra amenities visitors may need. Bolton Abbey, Kilnsey and Grassington are all within easy driving distance and help to make this charming village a wonderful base for exploring the Dales.

Beds were really comfortable, ample parking, lovely outdoor area for when the weather is fine, everything you needed for a lovely weekend with friends and family. Lots of sofas to sit comfortably (often a problem in larger accommodation). We visited on the coldest weekend of the year and the first night was a bit chilly but we messaged to hosts and they sorted the heating straight away (we were then VERY toasty warm!) We ordered takeaway one evening and it was delivered easily. Accommodation was lovely and clean. Would re visit and recommend to others.

Check in was easy, owners are at the other end of the phone if required, little touch’s like milk in the fridge and chocs make it feeling welcoming. Proximity to Town and surrounding areas make it a great weekend stay. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again
