Bilsdale Cottage in Thirsk offers a peaceful and relaxing stay with beautiful scenery and a cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and the property's cleanliness. Its rural location is ideal for exploring North Yorkshire, with easy access to local attractions and amenities. The nearby pub and towns like Thirsk provide good dining and shopping options. Some minor suggestions for improvement include better cutlery and crockery provision, and a refresh of the en suite shower room.
The cottage generally receives high praise for cleanliness, with most guests finding it spotless and well-maintained. One review mentioned the en suite shower room could benefit from a deeper clean, slightly impacting the score.
The location is highly regarded for its tranquillity, beautiful countryside, and proximity to walking routes and local attractions. The ease of access to Thirsk and the peaceful rural setting contribute to a high score.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, particularly noting the quality of the bed and the cosy feel of the property. A suggestion for a larger sofa indicates room for improvement, but overall comfort is rated highly.
The cottage is considered well-equipped by most, but some guests noted a lack of certain kitchen items like scissors and kitchen roll. The TV reception was also criticised, suggesting some updates are needed.
There are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of thoughtfulness, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

The accommodation was on the hole good. A few minor details were missing. A good welcome pack would have added to the greeting. There was a lack of basic cooking essentials IE no salt, pepper or cooking oil. These have been provided in almost ever cottage I have booked in the past. The TV set is very basic, no catch up available and the reception was poor. At time I could not get a picture on BBC1. Overall the cottage was a bit below the standard I have had in the past.

Lovely rural location with beautiful views. The local pub is great for food and very welcoming. Joined the ramblers in Bedale for a local walk and they couldn’t have been more friendly.

Bilsdale cottage has been converted from an old farm building. The old beams have been cleaned up and left exposed to add character. It’s been very well insulated and was very warm and cosy with the central heating on. Kitchen is very well equipped. Location is delightfully quiet, but it is only a couple of miles to the main road so as long as you have a car you can soon be enjoying God’s county. There is a pub but no shop in local village. But delightful Thirsk with shops and market is only six miles away. Our hostess was available but we only needed to touch base, we felt very much at home from the get go. Thoroughly recommended.
