We were there 5-7th December. We were lucky that the temp was quite mild as heating only programmed for 1 hour a day in the morning (operated by main house)there was an electric fire however this was a dry heat and not comfortable- the front of the house is PITCH BLACK but we had taken a large torch - puppy was terrified of the darkness and the howling dogs in the background - we saw the working dogs as we passed nearby and was informed they were locked in kennels but still barked every time we left the cottage- I had assumed the back garden was to use however owner said it is not part of the cottage - no sign stating fire exit only - I stopped using it even though it was well lit - dish washer didn’t work however kitchen was well equipped - disappointed Xmas decorations were not in cottage and as for the play hut out the back - that hasn’t been used for months -if not years it was totally stripped - slugs and bugs galore - it is also miles from anywhere ! Down a muddy lane- No local shop to pop into

Booked as a very last minute long weekend getaway. Was a perfect cottage and location. Quiet little village in beautiful countryside for walks and fresh air. Close enough to places like York for a day trip. Had everything you could need (including sky TV and internet which kept the teens happy). Bear in mind that you have to drive through a working farm to reach the cottage but was not an issue. The 11yr old has requested we return again next year for a longer break here. Only minor downside was the little reading shed shown in the pictures was locked up but guessing that may be due to the weather and temperature.
