Guests say

The Old Post Office is a charming and spacious cottage in Thirsk, praised for its ideal location and homely feel. Guests enjoyed the proximity to a friendly local pub and found the property to be a great base for exploring Yorkshire. The cottage's garden and cosy fireplace were highlights, contributing to a pleasant stay.

Cleanliness received mixed reviews. While some guests found the cottage clean and well-kept, others reported issues with grubbiness and maintenance, such as a dirty freezer and stained sofa. The negative comments suggest room for improvement in this area.

The location is highly praised for its quiet village setting, proximity to a pub, and ease of access to nearby towns and attractions. It serves as an excellent base for exploring the beauty of North Yorkshire.

Comfort levels are generally high, with guests mentioning super comfy beds and a warm atmosphere. However, there were some concerns about a creaky single bed and steep, dark stairs, which slightly affected the overall comfort experience.

Facilities are well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good Wi-Fi. However, guests suggested improvements such as more mugs, cutlery, and basic condiments. Some maintenance issues like a difficult key safe and a lack of light switches were also noted.

The property's thoughtfulness is reflected in the welcome pack mentioned by a guest, indicating a hospitable touch. However, as not all reviews mention gifts, and to maintain expectations, it should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

The house is very nice (if a little dusty) and ideally situated for visiting North Yorkshire. It was spacious with plenty of room for a family. One of the single beds was uncomfortable and very creaky. The steep stairs to the top room were very noisy and rickety and there was no light switch at the top which made them very dark last thing at night and on a winter’s morning. These stairs were also dangerously close to the house bathroom door. The dining kitchen was a great size and had everything we needed, and the pub a few doors away serves very nice food. All in all a lovely house with a nice courtyard at the back and a good weekend was had by all.

The Old Post Office was a lovely place for our short break and suited the 4 of us just fine. Nice and warm (we loved the fire in the lounge) and everything was provided that we needed for our short break. It's a great location, the picturesque little village is wonderful, so much character and history, it would be lovely in the summer. Fab pub just a few doors away (definitely staggering distance if that's your thing!) and the meals were excellent, so can highly recommend.

Excellent cottage, lovely homely feel with fabulous accommodation. Cottage could do with a few more basics provided sugar, salt, pepper. Other than this we had a great stay and would recommend it!
