About this property

The Granary is a delightful, stone-built, first-floor barn conversion on a working livestock farm, nestled on the outskirts of Spofforth, North Yorkshire. Attached to the owner's home and surrounded by countryside, this first-class cottage is within easy reach of Harrogate, Knaresborough and the Yorkshire Dales, a wonderful spot for a romantic getaway! You'll find the interior full of character and charm with many of the original features, including exposed beams and an external stone staircase leading to your home from home. Locate the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner equipped with contemporary amenities including an electric oven and hob, washing machine and dishwasher, with everything you need to prepare a romantic dinner for your other half. After long days exploring this fabulous region, relax in the stylish yet homely sitting room with leather sofas and a Smart TV; start the electric fire on colder nights for extra comfort as you snuggle into the cushions! A beautifully appointed master bedroom features a king-size zip/link bed with throws and cushions, along with a bedside lamp for night-time readers, and a floor-length window looking across the working farm and distant hills. In the morning, hang your towel on the bathroom's heated rail whilst you step into the walk-in shower or soak in the tub. A short walk from your Spofforth cottage is a private, formal garden area with patio and furniture, ideal for enjoying an evening tipple and discussing the day's adventures. The centre of Spofforth isn't far for dining out at The Castle Inn, stocking up on essentials at Londis, and enjoying breakfast at Red Hill Farm tearoom; be sure to visit the historic remains of Spofforth Castle or bring your clubs for Spofforth Golf Course! Take a short drive to Wetherby resting on the River Wharfe where Stockeld Park, Wetherby Whaler for takeaway fish and chips, and riverside strolls all await. North of The Granary lies Harrogate with its Georgian grandeur, ancient abbeys, glorious gardens, art and culture; visit the Royal Pump Room Museum, picnic in Valley Gardens or why not treat yourself to an afternoon at the Turkish Baths? The ancient, picturesque market town of Knaresborough is also close by for Knaresborough Castle, renting a boat along the River Nidd, and the historic Chapel of Our Lady of the Crag. There are many day trips on offer, including Mother Shipton's Cave, Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe in England, which dates back to 1720, and the Courthouse Museum. An excellent cottage all year-round, explore North Yorkshire with your other half at The Granary.

Spofforth is a lovely North Yorkshire village located 5 miles south of Harrogate and 3 miles north west of Wetherby. The parish church of All Saints Church, two pubs, the Castle and the Railway, and a variety of small enterprises can all be found in this town. Spofforth Castle, which was previously home to the Percy family until the late 14th century, is worth a visit for some history. The surviving remains can be found today, with free admission and lovely footpaths surrounding them.
