As the sky grows dark, retreat inside, and find the family bathroom on the ground-floor, beautifully tiled, where you can rejuvenate in the tub. Choose between four adorned bedrooms, with a king-size and two doubles as well as a spacious family bedroom. In the morning, make use of the fantastic facilities in the kitchen area or venture out on foot to sample baked goods at Lockton Tea Rooms & Gallery. Be sure to spend some time at the vibrant town of Pickering, just a short drive away, perfect for budding historians, where you can tour the world-famous paintings at Saxon Church, view the ruins of Pickering Castle and unveil the past at Beck Isle Museum. A scenic drive will lead you to the thriving market town of Kirkbymoorside, home to two ancient inns for home-cooked meals and a variety of independent store to treat yourself. Whisk your family away to Bute Cottage for memories you will cherish.

The old market town of Pickering serves as the official entry to the picturesque North York Moors National Park, home to the Heartbeat countryside, with its complete range of services and traditional shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants. The shower pressure and temperature in both bathrooms were not great at all. Lack of dishwasher was also a shame but we knew this would be the case when booking. If possible it would be a nice addition to the cottage for many families particularly when at full capacity. Beds were very comfortable and the cottage was lovely and warm. The main reason for the 3 stars is the level of noise you can hear from all of the upstairs bedrooms. You can hear people talking at a very normal noise level and can hear the kettle boiling and smallest of noises from upstairs. It made it very hard to get to sleep or stay asleep. With the cottage at full capacity it’s hard to keep minimal noise down so made it hard for children to get to sleep. For this reason we would not recommend Bute cottage for families.

The villagers and in particular the next door neighbour were all very friendly. Lovely tea shop. We hope to be back next year!

Apart from that everything was excellent.
