About this property

Situated in the picturesque village of Welburn in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire and within walking distance of an excellent gastro pub, Chanting Hill Farmhouse is an elegant and spacious property perfectly placed between the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Coast. Chanting Hill Farmhouse is listed with English Heritage and, following an extensive renovation, has been tastefully decorated with both modern and vintage furnishings.

Exuding charm, the sitting room features comfortable seating appointed around a cosy wood burning stove and a large window seat. Offering seating for seven guests, the dining room also has a wood burning stove to add ambient warmth and light on chillier evenings. Located off the farmhouse kitchen, a convenient cloakroom and boot room features stairs that lead down to the laundry facilities in the cellar. Upstairs on the first floor, three bright bedrooms are presented. Bedroom one hosts a super-king bed, with a super-king bed that can be converted into twin beds on request, in bedroom two. The third bedroom provides twin single beds. These rooms are served by two bathrooms, one of which features a claw footed roll-top bath and separate walk-in shower.

Outside, the garden enjoys enviable views of Castle Howard and backs onto open working farmland. Please be aware, that the garden is not fenced livestock may be grazing in the surrounding fields.The garden shed provide secure bike storage, and there is a log store and washing line.

​Guests of Chanting Hill Farmhouse will receive day entry passes to Castle Howard (valid for the day of your choice subject to seasonal public opening times - please click here for more information), and will also receive a £20 voucher to use at Castle Howard's Farm Shop. The house and gardens are open seasonally (usually from around April to October). Please check the website for opening times and book in advance of your stay.

Just 2.9 miles from the imposing Castle Howard Estate in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, walk north from the property to enjoy the grounds of the estate featuring an array of splendid temples and monuments. The Crown and Cushion pub is within walking distance of the farmhouse serving excellent locally sourced produce. The village of Welburn also has a bakery/deli/cafe called Dogh which serves afternoon tea and offers a delicious selection of breads, cakes and sweet treats. The is seating outside makes a nice place to stop after a dog walk.

    It was clean and furnished to a high standard. Constructive observations. Downstairs loo fan not working. Bathroom hot taps on /off wrong rotation.
