Guests say

Castle View is a well-regarded cottage in Scarborough, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location near Peasholm Park and North Bay beach. Guests appreciate the spaciousness and the well-stocked amenities, though some minor maintenance issues and parking challenges are noted. The property's gardens offer a pleasant outdoor experience, and it's well-suited for both families and those with pets.

The property is consistently described as very clean, with only a few minor comments about a mouldy bath mat and a dirty floor under a rusty radiator. Overall, guests are satisfied with the cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to local attractions such as Peasholm Park, North Bay beach, and Scarborough's amenities. The convenience for both families and dog owners is frequently mentioned.

Guests find the property comfortable, with special mention of the beds and the view from the main bedroom. However, some guests noted the lack of hanging space for clothes and issues with a blind in the attic bedroom.

The property is well-equipped, but there are several comments about maintenance issues such as a non-functional TV, a rusty radiator, and a broken blind. Parking is also a concern due to the permit system.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the host, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Then on the second floor under the eaves you have the twin bedroom with great views from the Velux window across the town. Outside there is a good sized garden with a seating area on the patio, surrounded by plants and flowers, bursting with colour through the spring and summer.

There are restaurants, bars, pubs and shops within a short stroll, and both the North and South bay are around a 20-minute walk. Once on the seafront there are over three miles of flat promenade to walk along, crossing from South Bay to North Bay, separated by the castle on the hilltop. At the far end of the North Bay there is the Sealife Centre as well as Peasholm Park with wooded walks, a tumbling stream, and a lake where boats and pedalos can be hired, both great visits for all the family. Alpamare Water Park and spa is ideal for a self-indulgent day out, where you can swim in steaming hot outdoor pools, book in for a massage, or enjoy sea views from the sauna. The gently shelving, wide sandy beaches at Scarborough have won several awards for cleanliness. The resorts of Filey, Flamborough Head and Bridlington are further south, whilst to the north, Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes are all very popular for day trips. The rspb bird sanctuary is just along the coast at Bempton Cliffs where thousands of puffins, guillemots, and gannets perch along the rocks. There are viewing points from which to spot all the different breeds of seabirds that arrive every year, as well as the seals that sunbathe on the rocks below.

Within an hour you can be in the medieval, walled city of York with its majestic minster standing proudly in the centre of the city. The narrow-cobbled streets, city walls, individual shops and fantastic museums make it an enjoyable day for all age groups. Take a trip on an open top tourist bus or river boat and learn about the history of the famous city. York can also be reached by train direct from Scarborough, so why not leave the car at home? You are within a 15-minute walk from Scarborough’s train station. All in all, this town house is a great base to visit the east coast of Yorkshire.

Lovely house but if you struggle with stairs it’s not the one, too many inside . Situated really well for places to visit and great views of the castle from the top bedroom.

Castle View is a lovely house, very clean and comfortable. The only reason we gave it 4 stars is that the TV did not work as well as it should have. On many of the channels it kept pixellating which ruined our enjoyment of the programme. The other reason is the state of the radiator in the kitchen, it was really rusty and the floor was dirty underneath because of this. It needs re painting or covering with a radiator cover. Apart from that we had a lovely time and can really recommend the property.
